I am active duty Navy and was deployed to Yokosuka, Japan for 6 months.  I informed Sallie Mae about my deployment and send them the proper paper work for a military forbearance.  When I returned I realized they had been charging me late fees and sending into my credit report for the entire six months.

This happened over three years ago and it is still reflected on my credit report.  I have sent in the paper work numerous times to credit reporting agencies and Sallie Mae, I dispute it and it will still show up as late fee is correct, I have even reported them to the Better Business Bureau and it will not come off my credit.

Be very careful when dealing with Sallie Mae they will lie and cheat to make money even though they are supposed to help people get money for college they only want to make money.

Have the JAG at your Naval Base re-submit the documentation to Sallie Mae
