Samaritan Fundraising Christian scam Fairfax, Virginia
I was going to raise funds for a missions trip scheduled for September. So, I found out about Samaritan Fundraising and I thought "sure, afterall, they build themselves as a Christian fundraising company. So, why not give them a try?" A win, win situation, right?--or at least, so I thought.
I placed my order and they were faithful in delivering my cards and I was ecstatic! To me, I thought I was well on my way for going for an outstanding fundraising adventure. Never, would did it occur to me at the time that these cards did not have any barcode and something seemed fishy.
Then again, I ignored that small voice that this didn't seem right. I mean, afterall, this was a professing Christian company. They would never misrepresent their products, right? Wrong!
First, I actually had to print out the coupons and whoever bought the cards must have a printer and computer, or they're simply out of luck. Next, most of the companies listed were not even in my area, so it was very hard for me to market the cards in the first place because most of the stores were unrecognizable. Also, the items were not exclusive and anybody could get the sale if they just researched the store on the internet and downloaded the coupons from there.
It was very disheartening for me. I could understand all the questions people were asking me as I felt like I was trying to peddle this stuff on friends and family, until I just gave up with a dismal 6 cards sold. Who could blame them? I feel bad for selling them in the first place.
The nightmare was not over, as I hoped it was. Then when I tried to return them, I couldn't return all of them, just 25 percent. When I called them, I told the guy on the other end of the line my situation. He was rude which made me baffled.
Which brings to mind still, that if this is a so-called Christian company, why are they being rude and scamming others? The other Christian organizations on the bottom promoting this company better do their research and stop supporting them. This is not a true Christian company.
So, right now, I find myself fighting having collections going after me and although a part of me thinks why should I pay them, another part of me just tells me to be done with it and move on. I never went on that particular missions trip, partly for a lack of funds.
A lesson to be learned from all of this is to do your research! Yes, even if the company proclaims itself a Christian-based company, still research it! Don't be like us and make the mistake that their is no such thing as a wolf in sheep's clothing.
