Samson International Don't buy Samson International furniture from Costco or any other store High Point North Carolina
My advice to all who read this posting is to not by any furniture from Costco which is made or sold by Samson International out of High Point North Carolina.
I purchased a very nice looking granite top bar at Costco, it was $1850 on for $999. It came in 3 separate boxes. I needed to hire a mover in order to get it the main bar section into the basement ($100). Once all containers were opened, I found severe cracking and splitting of the wood on the 2 side sections of the bar. I contacted Samson International via they're costumer service 800 phone number. I was told to take pictures and send in, which I did. Received an email saying replacement parts should arrive in 2 to 3 weeks.
A month went by and I received nothing. I then contacted SI again, and was told that they are not dealing with this distributor any more, and they will have to repair the items. Well now, the real fun begins.
After waiting another 2 weeks and finally getting an appointment with a furniture medic, all that happened was he came out to take more pictures!! When he finally got back to SI, he stated that it would be $1000 CDN to repair (in my house). I was then asked to source out another quote (which also said $1000 to repair). Now SI is saying that the supervisor will not want to pay this amount since I only paid $1000 to begin with. I have been dealing with this issue since late February 2009, and have not reached a satisfactory conclusion as of yet.

I had occasion to track down Universal Furniture International, a sister company to Sampson International, today and found the representatives with whom I spoke both helpful and gracious.
In 2004 I purchased two Broodmore Westin double bookcases manufactured by a subsidiary of this company and sold by Costco. Nearly ten years later, I have need to disassemble one of them to move it out of a bedroom and into my daughter's apartment, but I cannot locate the instructions. A Google search provided me with the name of the company that distributed them to Costco (Universal Furniture International).
I called the company and was eventually transferred to a representative who hunted down the information I needed and emailed it to me. It took this person 15-20 minutes to track it down, but she persisted because she knew it was important to me. I was most impressed with her attitude and helpfulness.
As an Executive Member of Costco for many years, I think it would be fair to say that Costco does not make a practice of doing business with shoddy operators or companies that do not back their products. Furthermore, their policy of refunding members' purchases, even after many months in some cases, demonstrates their commitment to customer service.
If the individual filing the complaint had taken up the matter with Costco, I believe he would have had a different outcome.

So this report is really for Samson International, if your product is damaged you can just return it at Costco.
