I PURCHASED A 54' akai tv ,made by samsung 4yrs ago, I have a problem with it before it was a yr old , but it was minor, I had several problems with it since but were also minor and repaired by my service man , but 6 mos ago my tv stopped working , I called my service man and he said it was the power board that burnt out , he said it was around 80.00 for that part and he would order it.

he called me several days later to inform me that Samsung has stopped making parts for my TV, and did not make a replacement part . SO WHAT DO I DO NOW ...?

I have a practically brand new tv , that I can't fix.
they were selling these tv's like hot cakes in Sams club , with the intention of not making replacement parts for it , that's terrible .they had to sell hundreds of them because they sold at a below 1,000.00 price . what do all these people do now ..

if you have a model # pt5492s and have this part i will buy it from you ..please contact me at (((REDACTED FOR SECURITY PURPOSES)))

Next time buy a direct view LCD. Direct view LCD screens only go as large as maybe 42" right now, but direct view LCD's are a lot more robust.

Sam's would have no knowlege about what Samsung et al might or might not do in the future w/r/t repair parts. Seems to me that repair parts should be available for 10 years. This is taking planned obsolescence too far.

Before you buy your next TV, check Consumer Reports' brand reliability ratings.

Maybe your repair man can repair the power board- at a price. This is tricky but it should be possible. Ask and then decide what you want to do.
