Samsung Samsung..never again Internet
we purchased a Samsung plasma TV roughly 5 years ago and it developed "screen burn". We tried to alleviate the problem and followed the instructions in the manuel, to no avail. We then tried to communicate with a technician and before we went into the site we were asked how much would we spend for his advice. It had a minimum of $20. Needless to say, not going to spend more money on worthless information. Now we find out that the warranty does not cover "screen burn"!! No more Samsung products for this household. What a waste of $1600!!

Someone is thinking that buying an electronic device is the same as buying a house? An electronic device is a consumable produc, not an investment. Also, expecting a warranty to be that long (5 years) for every single part of an electronic device is unrealistic. I am not sure whether the part is still available today! If you feel entitle for every single thing you buy, I could see your complaints written all over the place for many many many other things.

"What a waste of $1600!!"
The TV should have lasted longer but it was not a waste of money because you have been watching the TV for five years. The image is burned into the display because you left the same image on the screen for an extended period of time possibly because you used it as a video monitor or you didn't turn off the TV when it wasn't in use.
