Watch Out!!! The snake may have changed his name (previously called H*O*T*R*I*D*E*S*) but a snake is a snake is a snake. The snake's name is Samuel G. Laken and he works for Andrei Losev. The dealership is currently being called Hot Ride Motors, running scam ads off of Ebay and operating out of it's location at 3552 Kensington Ave. in Philadelphia, PA. Anyone knowing of these two scammers or their dealership, Please BeWare!!!

My horrific experience with these Ebay scammers began when I came across a 1999 Envoy SUV in lt' last 3 days of auction. I did not have time to do much of anything if I wanted to buy it. So I called n' spoke to Sam Laken the next day. I asked if it was mechanically sound to which he replied it was fine n' he would not be afraid to take it to Calif n' and that ALL of his vehicles are PA inspected before they are put up for sale - (possibly Lie #1, but most definitely a lie!)

But is this where you are supposed to call a stranger a liar? Or do you take him at his word? The pictures posted on Ebay showed it to be nice.
(Imagine that lol) So I believed him and bid on the Envoy and won.

Upon arriving at his dealership in Philadelphia, Hot Ride Motors, after a 6 hour ride, I found that the pictures did not lie - Samuel Laken did!

The test drive revealed a lifter tick which isn't bad but after buying the Envoy n' getting it home was an experience! Had headlight n&apos, brake light issues and NO heat for the return trip. Once home, I had a certified mechanic look over it for inspection. He informed me to get ready to spend lots of money just to get my 1999 GMC Envoy SUV, which was 'supposedly' PA state inspected????, inspected in my own state.

First thing brought to my attention were the Headlights - The HD bulbs are not replaceable on this model. You must buy the system from GM at a whooping $700-$900 if you want to replace the 'yellowed' lenses (Check with your local GM dealer) Both half shafts need replaced - boots turn, right side clicking, rotor need turned - severely scored, rear air ride shocks need replaced - leaking oil, moonroof drive broken, driver door window - no motor or regulator - window held in place w/bolts!!! heater core needs flush or replaced - undetermined yet. I told him to stop there cause the news to this point was making me sick.

And this is why I need to let others know of this "Snake Oil" salesman. Sam The Snake Laken has the talk and the loopholes of the 'dishonest' car salesperson down to a science. This is the type of salesperson that gives small dealerships a bad name and reputation.

I had to go through LOTS of red tape at the Auction Insurance Co., but ONLY due to the fact that I am extremely persistent and engaged an attorney did this result in my being 'somewhat' (Not all) compensated by the auction insurance and the agent informed me he himself had several more cases on his desk involving this "snake oil" salesman Sam the Snake Laken.

I have also been in touch with others who have had the misfortune of doing business with either Samuel Laken or Andrei Losev of Hot Ride Motors and have found people that have been 'forced' to leave 'positive' feedback before even leaving Samuel's office! No doubt due to the large inprobability of anything bought from these Ebay scammers actually making it to your destination without issues or breaking down!

The old adage "Buyers beWare" was for this snake oil salesman Samuel G Laken and his cohort Andrei Losev. Either called H*O*T*R*I*D*E*S or HOT RIDE MOTORS, a snake is a snake is a snake is a snake!

Ebay Rip-Off Alert Hot Ride Motors

You are absolutely right. I should never have taken Sam Laken's word on the phone but that's just me. We spoke no less than a half dozen times and he seemed like a decent guy as was every other person I've ever done business with on Ebay. It's my nature to assume the people I'm dealing with are telling the truth and as honest as I am but again you are right that I should never have sent all my money (which was a considerable amount and not the $1500 of your vehicle) without having a third party inspect the vehicle. I suggested this to Sam and he sounded insulted that I'd even 'suggest' that he was being dishonest and stupid me felt guilty even of suspecting that he could possibly be lying about any of the details of this vehicle. But you do know what they say about hindside being 20/20 and there were just so many signs that this sleeze ball was lying through his teeth.
The first clue should have been when he picked me up at the airport in a DIFFERENT vehicle as he assured me that he'd pick me up in my vehicle so that I'd be able to see how it runs from the airport to the dealership. Said my vehicle was still at the detail shop and that was why he didn't do as he said he'd do but then when we got to the dealership, the vehicle was there on the lot and NOT detailed. Imagine that, lol.

As for being mean and vindictive, not so. I GOT ALL MY MONEY BACK FROM THE AUCTION INSURANCE and that would not have happened had Sam Laken not done anything wrong! You're right that I didn't do my homework but I have no grudge whatsoever as I've been compensated for even my plane fare and lost time. My only mission is to educate others so that they don't have to go through what I did with these slimy snakes in the grass, Sam Laken & Andrei Losev at Hot Ride Motors. Anyone wanting to join us in our campaign to educate consumers on Ebay and CL, please join us on the automotive forum any week night from 7 thru 9 PM. You won't believe what these guys have been getting away with doing. See you all on the forum and will exchange e-mails from there as they won't let us do that here.

DID YOU DO YOUR HOMEWORK???

I very first place how stupid do you need to be to buy a vehicle without seeing it, especially a used one???? I've been buying on ebay for 5 years now and never been scammed. Maybe i'm just lucky as some might say, but i'm just doing my homework well. So far i bought 3 cars from Ebay. 2 of them from the same state i'm from (PA), and 1 from FL. I was able to come and test-drive 2 vehicles prior to bidding - and basically i knew what i was getting and how much i'm willing to pay for it. FL is too far for me to go so i did not really know what to expect, so i hired a 3-rd party inspection for 100$ directly from ebay. Within 1 day i received full detailed 150 point report of what i'm about to buy. I'd say it was worth it - even though the the car was only $1500. it had some issues not listed in the listing but listed in my inspection report - like couple small rips in the seat, sigarret holes, couple big dings that were not shown in the pictures. I did not really care as i knew if I get a car for $1500 - and it RUNS (i mean engine is good and tranny shifts) - I got a great deal, no matter what else is wrong with that car. I understand that some poeple believe in miracles but miracles do not happen - you can not get something for nothing - you alway get what you pay for. If you are cheap, or just do not have money - there is no way you can get a fine running Ferrari - all you can get is a replica or at best beatup piece of crap. Its amazin how some people do not understand that simple law of life. You can not spent $1 and buy the whole world - there are toooooo many people just like trying to do exactly the same...

As i understand they guy who got a car from this dealer is a grownup man and it was his decision to pay for something he have never seen nor inspected. I might be wrong but as i understand he picked up the vehicle in person - if you did not like something why did'nt you backed out of the deal??? They can not really force you to pick-up something that you do not feel confident about. Even if you did - if you did not like something - why didn't you discuss it with them - maybe you could've got a break on the price or something... As a man it was your decision - i'm sorry to say so, but it was a very stupid decision - and you made it - and why do you complain now???

I live in US for 25 years now. what i know is that US society works - if you do not watch your back - you'll get fu..ed by anyone... It is not only car dealers or just some bad guys - big companies. Did you check you phone bill lately??? you better do as sometimes they add an extra couple $$$ in there just for being very nice to you...

Hot Ride Motors - Hello!!!! You just reported on a DIFFERENT Company

My beef is with Hot Ride Motors - NOT Hot Rod Motors
My beef is with a Sam Laken - NOT anyone named Stan!!!

Glad to hear, that you had a good experience with a Stan, at Hot Rod but you are totally off the mark in your 'rebuttal' of my complaint, as you are NOT even talking about the same person or company!

First of all, there was NO financing involved, at Hot Ride Motors, as people, who bid on Ebay, for vehicles, do so, for CASH, but I'm happy to hear, that you were able to obtain financing, at a place called Hot Rods, from a person, named Stan, when no one else would help you.

Ebay is a whole different can of wax than going into a dealership to finance a vehicle and we, who buy on Ebay, rely on the honestly, of the persons, we do business with and you have no idea what you are talking about or anything about Ebay with your statement of "why did you buy it, if you found issues after the test drive"???????

Helloooooooo! If you had any concept of Ebay buying of vehicles, you'd know that ALL money is paid more times than not BEFORE actually seeing the car, much less taking it out on a test drive. That's why it's so very important to do business with someone with integrity morals and above all is honest and not king of snakes as is Samuel Laken!!!!!!! I live 6 hours away and have bought vehicles on Ebay from as far away as California on Ebay and had not seen the vehicle until actually going to pick up the vehicle. This may seem strange or odd to some but I'm not the only one buying vehicles on Ebay who rely on pictures and conversations with the person selling the car. When someone tells me the vehicle being purchased was PA inspected, I'd assume the headlights were at least in working order, wouldn't you? Did you even READ the issues I had with this vehicle - EVERYONE of them being inspection related and beyond. I suggest to you that before offering a rebuttal to something you have no way of knowing anything about, at least know for sure you are referring to the same company in my complaint, which you are not. Have a good day and continued good luck with your 'financed' vehicle purchased from Stan at Hot Rod and consider yourself very fortunate, that you did not buy your car from Sam the Snake Laken and ANDREI Losev at Hot Ride Motors.

who is really at fault?

I read both of your complaints. I bought my 2003 Mitsubishi SUV from these guys. I think their great. I have Horrible credit and every where I went to buy a car I literally got laughed at. They were the only dealer that tried to help me get a loan. Not for some 10 year old clunker car but a really nice truck. So you say these guys are bad in this economy because you had problems with your truck.Well I say our economy needs dealers like Hot rod motors to help a single mom like me get a car. I will admit my truck had a few problems a week or two after I got it. I called Stan and he walked me through how to use my warranty. They rented me a car for the 2 days it toke to have my truck fixed. I under stand better then any one, it stinks to get scammed. I have been screwed by some of the slimiest car dealers out their. It just sounds to me like your complaining because the truck you bought on line wasn't perfect. If you had problems on the test drive you should have walked away. Now your making these guys out to be bad because you made a mistake. That doesn't seem fair.
