San Carlos Hotel, Robert Malikan DISHONEST OWNERS ripoff to employees Phoenix Arizona
I had started a second par-time job a little before Christmas of 2001 to pay off some credit cards of mine. After getting hired the had asked me to go and get some clothes that would meet there requirements. They ask me to get 2 pair of slacks $80, 2 dress shirts $70, 2 ties 50, and coat jacket (blazer) 250 which equals $450. I asked them how does this work? Are you going to give me the money or how do you do it? They said if you could pay for it first we would reimburse you.
So I went to the store and used my credit card to purchase these items. I also needed to get some dress shoes and a belt to match what I was getting. I knew that I was not going to get reimbursed for the shoes and belt that they were mine.
After it all said and done it cost me about $600. Keep in mind I gave them the check on a Wednesday and didn't start wearing the cloths until the next week. They had a whole week to look at the recite.
While at work about three weeks later in the middle of January, I asked the manager when they were going to pay me back. She said she would look into it. Going in to February still nothing. I was asking every week what's going on with my check, are they (the owners) going to pay me or what? I said look, just tell them to pay me a little something month to month or I will even work with them to lower the bill just so I can pay off this card too.
Well, some time in MARCH I got a respond from the manager (Becky) that the owners said that I spent too much money and they didn't know what they were going to do. I told her well they better do something because the whole idea of me working there was to pay off my credit cards not to add on to it. I was irate by this time. Still in March My manger came up to me to tell me the boss (Robert Melikian) wanted all the cloths back, even the shoes and belt. He was going to try to take all the cloths back to the store and get a refund? They were refused at the store and decided to keep the cloths until they new what they were going to do.
Every day I would walk in the office and see these cloths there. One day I walked in and notice some thing were missing including the shoes. I told them since they took the shoes back to the store and they were on there property when they got stolen that they were responsible for them. They really weren't too happy about that now and I still have not been paid me a cent.
Towards the end of April I finally contacted the owner at home because he would avoid me at work. I asked him what we could do and he had no answer. He said what I spent was too much and that they didn't want to pay me that amount. Keep in mind that this is about 5 months in to this whole thing. They had a lot of time to get this done but still are playing the dumb roll. I told him look, you had plenty of time when I 1st gave you the recite to tell me that was too much money and also he didn't have to wait 3 months before I even had gotten a response. Also, He had made I comment that the shoes were not stolen and I was making that up. So I quit! I can take a lot of thing but d**n, I'm not a thief.
What I did after that is send him a certified letter through the mail stating that he would have to pay me with in 2 weeks or I will take him to court.
The next day after receiving the letter he called me to give me an offer of half of the amount I want. I told him no, I want $600. He said work with me lets see what we can do. Being the nice guy I am I said fine, I will settle for $500 and you can pay me 250 one month and 250 another. He said let me think about it and call you back. Still nothing! I called him at his house to try to resolve this and I still till this day am getting the run around.
On May 23 was our last conversation and my last straw. He said he would pay me half and that was it. So I told him that I would have to take other measures to get the done, he just said fine! Please help me with this too get my money back and now because it is going on six months and not one cent I want to get this guy for all I can.
Thanks,
Justin
