Sanford Brown Hazelwood Sanford Brown is a scam Hazelwood, Missouri
Where do I even begin?
I went to Sanford Brown Hazelwood after moving from Fenton. I transferred from the Sanford Brown Fenton location.
The nonsense started from the moment I walked into that door. Appearance is everything. I'm by no means a judgemental person but there needs to be some sort of competency test to get in a school or so you would think.....not with Sanford Brown. (Need I say more?!)
First off I would like to say a school being run by a professional would not have so many problems.
To the employees at Sanford Brown I am angry, enraged, and furious.
I called Sanford Brown Hazelwood to transfer from their Fenton location. Immediately when I walked through the doors I wasn't comfortable. I came on time to my "new student orientation" but was told that the room was full. I never received orientation. I thought "eh I'm just transferring" must be the same right? Not!!
There is so much to tell I'm not sure I can fit it in this text box but I will write what I can recall.
I had a teacher that didn't do her job. Her "lessons" consisted of us reading and then giving us a work sheet. By us I mean my classmates an I. Rarely, did this woman lecture.
I have had students copy off me in front of her. I told her after class and she said she new and the proper punishment would be enforced. That never happened. I shrugged her off as another incompetent person in my life.
Things got really bad when there was a fight in the hallway and we were locked inside our classrooms for an hour. There were rumors that this kid had a gun.
Another horror story to entertain you all is one that personally envolved me being threated. Let me elaborate.
I was in my medical terminology class (with one of the good teachers) and the instructor told us she did not tolerate people answering cell phones in class nor did she tolerate them ringing. We were told that if they went off there would be reprocussions.
My friend and I were sitting together and the girl behind us purposely starting playing music on her cell and was laughing about it. Well my friend politely asked her to shut the phone off. She did not. My friend asked again and said to shut the phone off because she didnt want to be punished for this girls actions. The girl got a cocky attitude with my friend which happened to be a grown woman in her 50's. I told the girl not to back talk my friend and turn her phone off. The girl stood up and threatned to beat my a**. Right after, the department chair at the time had walked in because of a complaint of this girl not wearing the proper shoes.
The department chair had heard everything this girl had said to me and asked me to come into her office. I told the dept. chair exactly what happened and admitted I was stern when the girl snapped back at my friend. I was told the school did not tolerate threats and she'd be expelled.
About a week later I saw the same girl walking around the school. And was informed by another friend who was in a different trade that the school let her back in just under a different trade.
Another issue was the bookstore. They would never have the books for classes on time. The books would come in after class had already started or even two weeks later. Also, everyone was very rude to me everytime I went there.
The biggest problem is the end of the time I was there starting with clinicals. I was in my last term of my diploma and we had clinical prep or whatever you want to call it. I remember we had to fill out an application to be a certified medical assistant. We were told that if we passed this course we would be able to take the test with the C.M.T. Assoication. I thought I was legit and pretty pumped. I filled it out and
turned it in the last day of class as asked. Dr. David Goldberg took it from me in case you are wondering.
I finished my clinicals with a big name hospital. And was congratulated and told I was what Sanford Brown was all about. I was called back on several occasions saying I need to finish paperwork I had already done. I just blew it off.
I went back for my associates and asked why I did not recieve a call to take my certification test. I was told by Mrs. McKewon herself that I was not put on the list and she did not understand why. I was told that I'd be put on the next terms list if I reminded her when the time came around. Well by that time I was already done with my associates and tried to contact her and mysteriously she dissappeared. She did not answer calls from me. I was infuriated. I called Dr. Goldberg and asked him what the hell happen to my application and basically told him I was the best student they had so I shouldnt have to deal with their nonsense. I could hear the nervousness in his voice. He transferred me to Mrs. Antoinette Williams the department chair at the time. By this time I was already livid because I was on hold for a while. I told her my situation. She seemed pretty nice and said shed look for it. I got a call a few days later and she told me that they lost it and I'd have to do another application. LIKE OH WELL NO BIG FREAKING DEAL!! I bit my very opnionated tongue and told myself I wasnt going to let complete morons get in the way of my success. I filled out another application as well as a state document. Apparently I had switched the paperwork and gotten them forms mixed up.
I called the school a few weeks after that and no one answered my calls. After leaving a very strongly worded messgae to mrs williams asking what the hold up was. She finally called me two months later. She told me I sent the wrong forms in. And I had to do another freaking application.
I asked her why it took so long for to tell me and asked exactly how hard it was for her to do her job. Again for the third time I filled the application out to take the test and bit my tongue.
I received a call from Corey Barrett in the student services department telling me that my file wasnt closed. I asked why and there was some bogus reason. I told him my story and he pretended to help and gave the corporate number. I called the alleged number and it wasnt the right number!!
A few months ago I got a letter in the mail. I thought a little late but finally I get to take the freaking test.
Let me tell you a little secret. At the beginning of the school year Sanford Brown charges you a $90 fee to take the test. Basically to get you in the door as well as pay the comapny's fee thats supposed to certify you.
My letter in the mail basically said my fee was not paid.
I was insanly mad. I have not contacted them since. They will not help me nor do they plan on it. I filed a complaint on them through the BBB and they filed a counter complaint basically stating that I did not contact the right people to complain to.
I feel very distraught and cheated. I was promised help finding a job and I still dont have one. They had the nerve to give me a flier for a site that was hiring and had requirements they didnt even properly train me for. I never learned the medical dosing calculations that are supposed to be a part of the program. I had to find my own clinical site to do my internship at.
I applied to Wash U. And was turned down because I was not prepared correctly and my classes at Sanford Brown did not count.
They told me they were a recognised and nationally accredited school. Which nationally and regionally are two different things.
I feel scammed and cheated and lied to. The only reason I got good grades was because of myself. I went through hell with that school and kept on going, never quit because of the promises made to me.
They will sell you their lies and get your hopes up and let you down in the end. All my admissions rep was, was a car salesman. I came to him everytime I wanted to leave that school but he conned me into staying.
I feel scammed and now am in debt $30,000 and have nothing but a 4.0 to show for it.
