I filed my taxes online using taxbrain.com on 01/14/2010 choosing to have my fees taken out of my refund with the understanding a temporary bank account would be created at Santa Barbara Bank and Trust/Metabank.  My refund would be deposited into this account, the fees taken out, and the remainder deposited into my personal bank account utilizing the information I gave to taxbrain.com.  The IRS accepted my refund 01/16/2010 and gave an estimated direct deposit date of 01/29/2010.  Today is that day and I did not receive my refund.  After making about 30 phone calls to the IRS, SBBT, and Taxbrain I discovered Taxbrain incorrectly submitted the routing number on my tax return.  My refund was sent to Republic Bank in Kentucky on 01/27/2010 - noone can tell me why as Taxbrain is not accepting any sort of responsibility for this - and will now have to be rejected by that bank, funds sent back to the IRS, and I will have to wait for a paper check to be issued and mailed.  This could take anywhere from 2-6 weeks unless the check gets lost in the mail which is why I CHOSE DIRECT DEPOSIT!
