My car had been repossessed and payment had been made 5 days after being repossessed for the full amount due with repo fees to Santander. I had the option of paying a refinanced amount of $900 or the full amount owed including fees of $1880.  Payment was made for $1900. After moneygram sent to company, called to confirm that company received payment in which they confirmed that they had.  Stated that they would fax the paperwork to another department on the East Coast to process the release of the vehicle (which was on the west coast) but there business office was currently closed.  Paperwork submitted according to Santander to local repo company that came to get my car.  Told me call this local number to facilitate the release of my vehicle.

Called in am with no answer.  After work (1:30pm), was told to call back in 10 minutes.  When called back was told that I needed to contact loan company because car had been picked up early in am and taken to an Auto Auction. Called Santander who was less helpful in coordinating release of vehicle.  Gave me a number to call to reach Manheim Southern California Auto Auction, but the number went to an automated voice mail.  Called Santander back and after going around and around with them, I was given an additional number to call in which the company answered.  However, they stated that they do not accept walk-ins and that I needed to make an appointment to receive my vehicle.  I was told that their hours of operation were 9am to 3pm some days of the week and 9am til 12 pm two days of the week.  I called to make an appointment and received a voicemail that stated to leave vin, phone, and name and they will call me back to make appointment.  It also adviced that they would call back in order received so do not call and leave multiple messages.  My vehicle will be hold there at least over the weekend and who knows how much longer depending upon when I can "set up an appointment" to get my vehicle returned.

At this point Santander is of no assistance of helping me get the return of my vehicle even though the payment was received before it had been transported to the auto auction.  I am uncertain of where I stand in this situation and if there is legally any options that I have in this situation if this drags out over the course of a week or two, which I suspect that it will. With all of the negative feedback I have seen on Ripoffreport.com about both Santander and Mayheim Southern California Auto Auction I fear that my situation will become just another statistic but would like to atleast protect myself from this point because I did make the car and the loan in right standing before they decided to transfer the vehicle over 75 miles from where I currently live and not much facilitating to get the vehicle back after a large amount was submitted to get it back.
