I went to walmart on august 2008 and I purchased a 50' flat screen tevision for my husband's anniversary, within 1-1/2 year the tevision stops workin, there's a black shadow all accross the television. the same night I called the corperate office and spoke to several people manager, assistant manager and no one was able to help me, they say that the warr is no longer valid therefore there's nothing that they can do. I pay over a thousand dollars for the television and they producing product that is not good and people are losing their money, becuase of bad product on their part. I even call walmart they say a manger will call me from their headquarter till this day I haven't receive a call from no one and we are in october and i called since the end of august.

When warranties are up, you're on your own.  Although the title of your post says it stopped working within a year, the body of your post contains the heart of the matter.

If a company warrants their TV to be free of defects for one year, why would you expect them to fix it after a year and a half?   If they wanted to do that, they would have called it an 18 month warranty.

I often wonder how people can be so confused by this concept.

That said, there is value to your post.   It's always nice to know what brands are having failures just after warranty.  It's also a good idea to check out such reports before buying.   Doing so made a big difference when I bought a big screen a few months ago.  The one I intended to buy turned out to have a chronic problem with power supply failures with just over a year in service.  Thanks.
