College Prep Center is now SAT and ACT Prep Center.

A woman called my home and told me that she was calling in reference to my son. She went on saying that their company provided a software containing lessons that would help my daughter pass the SAT test for college.

Since she called my son by name, I assumed that they were referred by the school ( I didn't ask how they got his name), so I stopped what I was doing to listen.

I gave her my credit card number and purchased their software that was supposed to bring me a list of scholarships sites monthly for $119,00, which I could cancel within the first month without being charged. I was told that If I did not want the product I could cancel my order and return and get a full refund.

After two weeks that I received the product I decided to call and cancel and I returned the product receiving a return authorization number which I assumed guaranteed the return and my refund. Wrong.

They told me that I would not get a refund because the seal was broken on the software which was a lie because I did not open it but just as several others have stated how can you examine something or try something if you cannot open
the product.

I told them that the CD was shipped to me in that condition and instead of saying the customer is always right they said too bad no refund. in other words it was their word against mine and of course their word won over mine.

I realized than that I was in trouble and surfing the internet, I found this site with other cases of ripoffs by this company.

I lost $ 119,00 and I don't want anyone else ripped off. How can they keep getting away with this. I am going to inform the school board in Colorado them know what's going on.

I informed them that I was going to contact my lawyer and they stated no problem they are in the right due to software laws. Even Microsoft lets you return software if you are dissatisfied. Someone please stop them! I already reported them to the state of California BBB and the Attorney General also. We should all get together and file a class action lawsuit. I will be checking into that also.

When you go to Office Depot and purchase software. You look at the package and you determine if the software is right for you. If you open it and determine you dont like it, YOU CANT TAKE IT THE PRODUCT BACK TO OFFICE DEPOT.

The same applies to us. The difference is, since you are purchasing the product over the phone, we give you a chance for 30 days to review the materials provided with the CD. The box explains everything it does. We give you 30 days to review the DETAILED INFORMATION ON THE BOX.

THE SEAL BEING OPEN IS A COPY INFRINGEMENT RIGHT MADE BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

Before, you file fraudulent claims such as these. Be informed.

SAT and ACt Prep is not a Rip Off

The individual who has filed this Fraudulent report had filed a dispute that was FRAUDULENT. The product was opened and according to Software Laws if that seal is open we can't resell it. We provide all of this information in a recorded conversation as well as in writing. Bottom line we as a Company do not have to provide the entire recording and we do at the time of dispute. However, we as a Company have nothing to hide.

Our website is updated on a regular basis. Therefore this complaint is an unfortunate scorned client. This client calls us a ripp off. Yet Consumers take no accountability for not following detail instruction.

I again feel that this site is a tool for consumers to Slander Good Companies.

This message is to all of those parents who think that this company is a rip off. I am an emoloyee who loves her job (1) because I love to see students succeed(2)this is a highly recommended program " Kaplan"...(3) it's a great company to work for! Here's how it is, the student would have checked off an interest via college career day , our websight....the names aren't just pulled out of a phone book.Just because you're a little confused by what's going on, DOES NOT MEAN THIS COMPANY IS HERE TO RIP YOU OFF. There are policies and there has to be to keep things in order. If one of the councelors said the wrong thing, they more than likely do not have there job anymore. This company listens to all the recordings and I am sure that if they were wrong on there end, they would do what they needed to correct the situation. I get these materials to students all day long.To students who need this program and are happy that we are sending them this program! Seriously, look at prices...this is an awesome program for the price. Interactive CD Roms that work with your student at there own pace (basically acting like an in home tutor)that backs itself up by guaranteeing a score increase of 200 points on there SAT's and 4 points on the ACT , just by following some basic , simple instructions.THIS PROGRAM IS PERFECT FOR STUDENTS WITH VERY BUSY SCHEDULES.Thank you , for giving me the chance to coice my thoughts..

One of your reps by the name of Kim Small called me last night and gave me the big long spiel that I suppose your reps give everyone. She told me that I could try the software for 30 days and return it for a refund if I was not satisfied. Can you please tell me how I am supposed to try the software if I do not open it??? Am I expected to just look at it through the package??? Thank goodness I did not give you crooks my information!!!

Follow Procedures and Know your Software Laws. We dont make the Federal Rules when it pertains to open Seal on Software.

SAt and Act Prep Center has a return policy that is explained during the call and we read a mandatory confirmation. These calls are recorded to protect the Consumer as well as our Company. We also send documentation explaining our policy. Everyone receives a policy form, that they must sign and return to us. SPECIALLY when a return Authorization is requested. We take the clients word that they in fact did not open the seal. When we receive the package it goes through quality control. Bare in mind Software seal is by the manufacturer of the cd. If the seal is tampred or open. According to Federal law there are Copyright infringment rights. THIS APPLYS TO ANYONE WHO SELL SOFTWARE. You can go to Frys, Office Depot and walmart purchase software and if that seal is open you cant return it. If it is damaged, you may have it replaced BY THE SOFTWARE COMPANY. W go above and beyond and if we are called and advise dteh cd is damaged we ask the return it. We will then send a new one.

We are here to help stuents go to College, we have changed our POLICY TO THOSE WHO COMMIT FRAUD and make false allegations about us and take it very serious. We have a dispute department as well as Arbitration Department. We respect all of our clients. However, individuals who do not read nor follow protocol think they can slander our name. I am sure this client Filed a fraudulent claim with their credit card Company and lost their claim. Since we enforced and improved our new system, we deal with far more honest individual's. Some Consumers think they can lie and slander. Their only outlet is to file claim here in this site. We are watching and we will respond and Fight back when it pertains to false claims such as these. we are even willing to take the legal route if we have to. Our company has moved to a better State therefore the individual filing this claim is commiting fraud. We challenge the person who filed this claim to file suit as they suggest in their filing. They will find themselves in loosing battle. ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS FOLLOW THE WRITTEN MATERIALS WE PROVIDE. It is very CLEAR.
