I called the number on a flier advertising Dish Network TV to sign up for service for my elderly mother. The flier has Dish Network all over it, but the company I called was not Dish Network, but a "third party vendor" called Satellite Sales (aka The Elephant Group) who sells Dish Network Service. The sales reps are dishonest and will lie to you to get you to sign up. They will tell you anything, and after you've signed up, and talk to Dish Network you find out that none of what the sales rep from The Elephant Group told you is true.

But the worst thing they do is get your credit card number and bill you for a "service" they sell called E-Club or Homes Club, which is a useless "protection" service. I was never asked if I wanted this service, was never sent an invoice or contract, and this company has been billing me every three months for $19.23 for something I never agreed to. I found out about this scam over a year after they had started billing me and now they've stolen $134.43 from me.

This company is ripe for a class-action suit, as is Dish Network for continuing to use this vendor. BEWARE OF SIGNING UP FOR DISH NETWORK THROUGH A THIRD_PARTY VENDOR! They will lie to you and rip you off.

Mattfast1, If you want these people to not bother you with complaints or to not bother you at work with the 3rd party transaction calls. Then suggest that Charlie and the board STOP allowing these vendors to sell these contracts they make these false promises. In one post, you equated these contractors to someone who sells computers and installs windows wrong, you don't go after Microsoft. Which is a idiotic statement. We're not dealing with a software issue or a computer. We're dealing with a company that lets contractors sell their service. Upon selling this service, they lie to get what they want, a sale! Who does the consumer go to, the service that was sold to them as it's the entity that could but refuses to stop this. All part of the money!! If Dish is making it, why should they care how?

Mattfast1, please for your reputation, try understanding that your company is not an angelic one. They have 11,440 (BBB) reports against them due to many of the 3rd party sales among a host of others. Among the 702 that are on this site! But if you want to keep sticking up for them, go ahead, i enjoy reading your rebuttals and blasting you and your company for your wrong doings.

One should never use a 3rd party vendor to sign up for Dish Network service - UNLESS it's through a reputable dealer (Radio Shack, Fry's Electronics, etc.), as they are usually a bit more honest.

I deal with complaints every day at work, and 70-80% of the time, they're with what a salesman at a 3rd party company told them - "I was told no contract", "You guys were supposed to give me a free iPod!", "They told me my first month was free", and so forth. Most of the time, these flyers you get in the mail are sent out by these 3rd party companies, and Dish actually has nothing to do with them. The only way to ensure you are buying through Dish itself is to call 800-333-DISH (3474).
