In November, 2001, I ordered two items from the Satin N Lace Shops through their website. I paid them with my credit card and they quickly took my money. Since then, after extensive phone calls, e-mails and letters, I have nothing - no merchandise and no refund. I have been requesting my refund since February, 2002 but have only gotten apologies, false promises, and lies from one of the owners, Mike Uhde and the ignorant, overpaid embecile, Phyllis.

I could tell Phyllis was a complete idiot, but I should have realized she was just a decoy for this company when she answered my numerous calls over the past six months with "hello" instead of the company's name.

I wish I had never found this company's website and will tell as many people as possible, which will include the press, how deceitful and dishonest this company has been. They have embezzled my hard-earned money and I intend on getting it back, whatever it takes!

I used to live right around the corner from that store in Roselle Park. It's a little store on a busy road. I can't believe all the complaints against it, and alot of people haven't ever received their shipments. I wonder if the owner owns more than one- because this one in Roselle Park isn't even near where the World Trade Center was, it's at least 15 miles away, across the Hudson River!

Your follow up makes you sound no better than the owner.

You should have disputed the charge with your credit card company months earlier. It would have been resolved quicker.

Rip-Off Update for that Wonderful Satin N Lace Company !!..getting caught "with his pants down"

I just wanted to let everyone know that I FINALLYreceived my refund after waiting for 9 long months! I wrote to the County of Union, Division of Consumer Affairs, 300 North Avenue East, Westfield, NJ 07090. Their number is 908) 654-9840.

They were extremely helpful - they filed their complaint and actually got an answer from the elusive Mike Uhde. Mike thanked them for "bringing it to his attention" and claimed he was "quite concerned about the length of time since my order." He attempted to blame me, and on he sniveled.. blah blah blah. But it did the trick. He actually called me, again trying to blame ME for not following up with HIM. He asked for my order number and credit card number again, and after refusing to give it to him AGAIN, he miraculously "found" it in his records. He really thinks he is slick - I guess most con men think the same.

When I first started complaining, back in December, 2001, Mike used the World Trade Center tragedy as his excuse, stating that his shops were "near" the WTC. The next few times, his store was only 10 blocks away - the next few times it was a "few" blocks away and then finally they were "right next to it". The "only" thing Mike Uhde is dedicated to is lying and embezzling.

I also had some luck with my credit card company - they followed through and contacted Mike just "after" he had refunded my money. He apparently doesn't like getting caught "with his pants down" because ever since, he now likes to send little nasty, "put-down" e-mails to me, claiming my e-mails "required" a response - poor little guy is embarrassed he couldn't give me the slip! Also, all of my "never received" e-mails suddenly "reappeared" and he is "going to keep them in his file" because he says they contained some "unsavory language."

He's attempting to get the last word and scare me, but I got the last laugh. (Again, the little man trying to scare a woman - how brave).

I have reported them to every agency I could find. Good luck to the rest of you! It was definitely worth the fight - and his snide little follow-up e-mails have me laughing because I know he can't stand it that I got to him !
