The owner of Savannah Beach Inn (Ann)convinced me and my siblings that a trip to her B&B would be more romantic than a cruise to Alaska, so we paid nearly 1200.00 for a 50th anniversary vacation package that she put together for my parents. Included was to be the room, breakfast each morning, a boat cruise tour around the island, one dinner at a seafood restaurant she chose, a picnic basket to take to the beach, and tickets for a tour of the lighthouse.

From the time my parents arrived at this B&B, things went wrong, starting with the lack of a parking area, the moldy smell in their room and worn out linens. The owner never booked their dinner or their lighthouse tour tickets, and when they finally nailed her down to inquire as to when and where they were to go for these things, she told them to go to the restaurant and she would have everything arranged. They went and to their embarrassment, she had made NO arrangements and they were forced to pay (again) for this meal.

The lighthouse tour was an embarrassment too, as she led them "like children" to the office, purchased their tickets and all but patted them on the head when she pointed them into the direction they needed to go to see the lighthouse. The "cruise" she sold us was in a small fishing boat with outboard motor and lasted around 30 minutes.

The boat was the joke on that one. The innkeeper was hard to locate, no one knew where she was or if she would be back and my parents were not happy at all. The room they were in was old, in need of paint, smelled bad, was moldy, the bed linens and curtains were worn out and breakfast each morning was around a tight bar in the kitchen with people they did not know. My elderly father was uncomfortable and miserable the entire time, as the bed they slept on had springs sticking through the ticking.

My parents could not wait to leave! We will NEVER EVER do this to them again and this innkeeper completely ripped us off! She PROMISED to me REPEATEDLY that this would be a wonderful way to celebrate the ONLY 50th anniversary my parents will ever have. My mother would not tell me about all the horrible things that happened, until this past weekend, because she knew I would be upset. I intend to write EVERY B&B registrar or association and tell them about this place and the horrible innkeeper that lied to us and took our money in exchange for ruining my parent's 50th anniversary!
