February 2, 2008, my husband and I stopped by Savannah Dodge to look at used vehicles. My husband bought a truck---and after much pressure (many more details needed here)--I purchased a 2008 Durango. All of this took the whole day and we left the dealership at 6:30 pm. They closed at 7:00pm. This was a Saturday--they were closed on Sunday.

Being a 3-time cancer survivor, I knew I had made a huge mistake. I cried all night and Sunday--so worried that I would find myself with another illness--and lose everything, even my home because of this car debt. I had veen there before--during breast cancer--our house burned. There is always that fear of not having a place to die. I knew I had to take it back. I had traded in my 2001 Jeep sport--immaculate condition--3,800.00 trade allowance !!!!

Monday morning I attempted to return the car. They did not have the title to my Jeep yet and I knew they had not had time to complete or submit the paperwork. I had the car for ONE DAY! They told me that they had my signature and that was all that mattered. They knew all my personal details.

I appealed to the owner and his response was that I needed to take responsibility in the mess I had created and that since driving the car away, it was devalued at least $4,000.00 and that I would need to pay that to get my car back. (my mother had paid my car off just before her death in 2005 so that I could for the first time in my life not have that debt to worry about.)

I did not have the money so they said they would just buy my Jeep for 1.00 and sell it to get their money. But I needed a car. So the owner said I could buy it back for $4,000.00! I had to borrow the money. They raped me---it was so much worse that any of my cancers or losing our house to the fire.
