SBC Ameritech ripoff billing on closed account after 3 years Schaumburg Illinois
I had an account with SBC from August 2001 - March 2002 which was satifactorily paid off, actually they were supposed to send me a check for $20. 2 years and 8 months later I received a collection notice from some company stating that I was delinquent in the amount of $29.61 on an account that had been closed nearly 3 years before.
After about an hour on the phone I was able to get things taken care of. Now, after having things taken care of (I thought), 2 months down the road I get another collection notice from a different agency stating that I owe the same amount... All this after I provided SBC with a forwarding address to send the $20 check back in 2002... if I had an outstanding debt with them (and not a $20 credit) I assume they would have contacted me, instead I have this garbage to deal!!@# Still on the phone with them right now and I'm about ready to tear some heads off!@
