When contemplating contracting with SBC DSL service, I explained that my personal concern with signing a year contract was that I would be moving in the summer. I asked if my service could be transfered to another number. The service representative said that it would be
no problem to transfer within the SBC service area. So, I signed up.

When I requested a transfer of service to my new home and roommate's phone number, transfer was NOT granted--and in fact, a $200 cancellation fee was assessed. They claimed that I left out the important detail that I'd be transfering to an already established phone number.

However, I claim, that's an important detail that I was not informed of when I initially inquired about transfering services, AT THE INITIATION OF RESEARCHING DSL services!

SBC has offered no compensation for clearly delineating their transfer policy, at the onset of service. They misrepresented the ease of transferring service to another number to get me to sign up.

DON'T SIGN UP WITH SBC DSL--THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL AND MISREPRENTATIVE OF THE TRUTH!
