I found Henry Schuck 214-854-9880 and David Herrera 214-643-5319 on Thumbtack but I also think they advertise on Angie's list. Henry comes off as a real nice guy from New York and David comes off as very knowledgeable guy about construction who is from Amsterdam. These guys say they are general contractors, home remodelers and do Home remodeling They lure you into working with them with because they don't seem like the con artists that they really are.
We signed a contract with them but luckily I noticed that the first contact was looking for a second payment only after he had finished half the painting. I made him adjust it to include more work, otherwise I would have been out 2 payments to these rip off shoddy contractors.
They spent almost two weeks painting the upstairs in my home and could not get walls evenly painted the old paint kept showing through. They're shoddy work caused them to paint part of cabinets and part of the ceiling. I kept on giving them more time to get the paint right despite the fact that my wife told me to get rid of them much sooner. They just could not get the paint right not even close and I kept on talking to them and they said okay we'll fix it. They said it was a problem with the manufacturer's paint and had a million excuses. I finally had a talk with them and said we're not going to go any further with more work until you get this paint right. This is when a day later they mysteriously disappear without a trace. They won't answer their phones text messages or emails. That's when a worker turns up asking for one of his tools he left here and telling me that they never paid him.
I ended up having to hire new contractors to fix their mess and discovered that he caused a leak which I had to have the ceiling repaired. He removed doors to paint them which other painters said they don't know why he would do that so I had to pay to have those put back on. The plumbing work that he did was done incorrectly and all had leaks so I had to pay to have all that redone.
now after learning the hard way I found out you should never give a contractor more than 10% down. So what I ended up doing was just becoming my own general contractor and hiring each person for each job. I've got all these people to agree not to get paid until their work is done. Not even a penny period funny that when you do things that way how you get good quality work done. And the rest of the people just disappear. My house is starting to look great. I'm just writing this post to save somebody else from going through this. Don't think for a minute that I was some type of picky homeowner or somebody that wasn't willing to pay. These guys systematically look to get a couple of payments and run. They're bad people that do horrible work and don't even pay their people. The address they gave me on the contract turns out to be a restaurant that has nothing to do with them. These guys are just plain scammers and commit fraud and need to be stopped.
