Scenic Homes sells half finished brand new homes in seamingly nice subdivisions. They start off the scam by having the Building Superintendent force buyers to sign off on the "items to survive closing list" before everything is finished by tell us that you can't close until you sign off. This follows promises to complete painting, fix leaky toilets, repair plumbing put in backwards which caused steaming hot toilet water. A week after closing the promised repairs won't be done; and the same happens a month after.

Our amenities include: two-color walls, broken and separated door frames, missing caulk in the tub which accompany growing cracks in the supposedly brand new tubs and showers, and broken seams where the beams meet the ceiling. The separating stairs have exposed nails, and are only outdone by the buckling bedroom wall. This three (3) month old house has no screens on the windows, but includes countless wall gashes, crunchy mud and painted spots on the carpet.

Cracks in the wood supports for the stairs are quite noticable, and the front door doesn't close without a fight which requires lifting it to be accomplished. This would explain the sinking bathroom floor that has separated from the wall and the sinking bedroom floor. One garage door won't close because the outside handle fell off after one month of use. If you are in the market to buy a "new" house, look elsewhere, as the promise to close by a certain date will only be the start of your problems.

Two homeowners have placed For Rent signs in their yards in the last three weeks. There are more than twenty (20) houses still unsold. House hunters do lots of research, talk to current buyers and check this web site so you won't be moving in one year like us. It's a huge and very costly ripoff, so buyer beware!!

Scenic Homes Annual Update

#2Author of original report

Thu, February 16, 2006

Nothing has been repaired, by Scenic Homes/Scenic Homes Warranty (Snellville, GA); with the exception of the new commode handles we replaced. The complaint to the Better Business Bureau brought about the response from Scenic Homes/Scenic Homes Warranty, "...we don't know why the homeowner has come to the BBB for help. She has a remedy through our company." That's it. From April 2005 to Feb. 2006, they have refused to act, repair anything, replace anything and have told me to just sue them. The more than $140,000.00 paid for this home with leaking (water & wind) windows, broken front door, unpainted walls, etc. is the worst ripoff I've encountered in my life.
