I had an interesting experience with Scentura when I was in the Navy back in 1991. I was a sailor stationed in Norfolk, Virginia when these two beautiful girls came up to me out of nowhere. A redhead and a blonde, both 21 years old befriended me before trying to sell me some cologne. They explained that they were on a business trip from St. Louis, Missouri where they sold cologne and perfume for Scentura. The bottles were huge and were an exact replica of some high end colognes such as Eternity, Obsession etc. I purchased two big bottes for $25 each. I also took the girls on base where they were able to sell about 6 or 7 more various colognes before it was obvious no other sells would be made. I had to say that the cologne imitations were awesome and you could not tell them from the real high end cologne. What was interesting is that a few days later the girls came to me in tears explaining how they were "in trouble" because they had not sold enough of the product and were upset as to how their boss would react once they returned home to St. Louis. I guess their management sent them down to Virginia with high expectations of large volume sells. The girls had only sold about 12 bottles total while they were there, which is not too bad. They asked me if I would loan them $1,000 and keep the cologne for them until they could pay me back. I guess this was a temporary way for them to convince their boss they had sold the required quote of cologne. I told them I could not and one of the girls actually volunteered to sleep with me if I would help them. Alas, I refused. I'm not sure what happened to them when they got back to the home office, but they were very afraid of losing their jobs. By the way, the girls would only accept cash for the sales and never would provide receiptsfor sale transactions.
