My car was towed by AAA to Schaumburg Automedics, INC. on July 1st, 2010 @ approximately 4:30 PM. At that time my mileage on the vehicle was 119622. After a diagnosis was done, John Jobst stated I needed an upper manifold and the EGR valves replaced due to a hole in the upper intake manifold and the EGR valves were leaking fluid which caused the problem of not being able to drive my vehicle. He also stated other codes came up which had to do with the catalyst converters and other problems. Here are all the codes P0109, P0171, P0174, (P0430 for Catalyst Converter), P1719, P061F, P210. He gave me a $1,100.00 quote and once he replaced these parts he would have to retest to find out if the codes would clear. My car was left at this repair shop for 7 days, from July 1st to the 9th, 2010.  I called John Jobst on the following Wednesday July 7th, 2010, because I had not heard from him and he stated at that time my car was not ready because a part was not shipped with the other parts which he needed in order to complete the repairs and that the part would be in that day. Later that same day he stated all of a sudden I needed 2 catalyst converters replaced and it would now cost me an additional $1,724.63. I explained to him at that time I did not have $1,724.63 and that I would tow my car back to Chicago on Friday July 9th, 2010 and would be there to pay him for the parts and labor that was already done on my car which was a total of $1,086.29, which was paid in full, on July 9th, 2010 on my debit visa card. He explained to me that the car was only driving up to 5 miles per hr. Which I already understood the car was not drivable due to the catalyst converters having to be replaced and going only 5 miles per hr. I towed my car back to Chicago to my mechanic, Victor Mayberry, on 07/09/2010 and he test drove the car and also confirmed the car was only driving at 5 miles per hr. and confirmed that possibly 2 catalyst converters had to be replaced because the car was not getting any power. However, I had already replaced 1 rear catalyst. (My car has 3 catalyst converters).  I paid 970.00 dollars for the 2 catalyst converters, which he ordered on 07/09/2010 and they were being shipped on 07/12/2010. On 07/12/2010, 1 catalyst converter was replaced and he was about to replace the 2nd catalyst when he found out there was a vacuum leak coming from my engine where the upper intake manifold was replaced by Schaumburg Automedics Inc., which was suppose to be a new part from a Ford Parts Store. Mr. Mayberry called me and informed me that the upper intake manifold had a hole in it and that it looks like it could be a manufacturer defect and I needed to have the car towed back at Schaumburg Automedics, Inc. and have them replace the part due to being under a warranty because of a defect in the part John Jobst  installed in my car. On 07/12/2010, I immediately called John Jobst back at Schaumburg Automedics Inc. to inform him of this. When speaking with John Jobst the first thing he wanted to know was how much I was being charged for the catalyst converters, which I felt was none of his business and that he needs to take care of the problem concerning the upper intake manifold being defective and replace. He stated to me that he wanted both catalyst converters put on which I could not understand why that was so important to him now when he already had installed the upper intake manifold and the EGR valves with 2 clogged catalyst converters that he knew about and had accepted payment in full of 1,086.29. Well, I had my vehicle towed once again the next day on 07/13/10 to John Jobst at Schaumburg Automedics Inc. While there he refused to stand by the warranty for the upper intake manifold because there was 8 miles on the car and 1 converter was not installed. Now for 1. He did not mind installing an upper intake manifold and the egr valves knowing the catalyst converters were bad from the beginning due to the check engine light was on, the car was in the same condition when I left his shop and the manifold and egr was in the same condition it was in when I had it towed to him on 07/01/10. 2. He accepted money knowing this. 3. He had to test drive my car in order to find out the car was only driving 5 miles per hr. and how many times he or his mechanics had to test drive my car after being there for 7 days. 4. He lied about my car not being drivable and even driven, when a Hertz rental car employee and myself saw him driving my car in and out of the shop on 07/01/10, when he thought I had left the area, 5. He also lied about the mileage on his invoice as being 119622 which is the same when I checked my vehicle out of his shop on 07/09/10 a week later and I know there should have been more miles listed on his invoice on 07/09/10 when I checked my car out from test driving the vehicle alone not to mention the miles from John Jobst driving it on 07/01/10 in and out of his place of business. 6. The parts he purchased from Ford were suppose to be new parts; however, why did the upper intake manifold still have a hole in it and the EGR valve was burned out. 7. These parts were under warranty for 12 months or 12,000 miles whichever came first which he did not honor and he violated several sections of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975. 8. My car is still in the same condition it was in when I first had it towed to Schaumburg Automedics Inc., on 07/01/2010. This is unacceptable business ethics due to the part is under a warranty, the car had to be test driven not to mention pushed, towed several times, and after 7 days in John Jobst shop the mileage on the receipt still read 119622?, and he refused to give me the receipt or a copy for the upper intake manifold from the Ford Parts store. He ripped me off of 1,086.29 and deceived me because as a certified mechanic he knew that the catalyst converters should have been replaced first before he did the work to replace the upper intake manifold and the EGR valves.

Desired Resolution:
I would like my money back in total due to John Jobst from Schaumburg Automedics, Inc., did not stand behind the warranty agreement for the parts replaced on my vehicle that was suppose to be new parts. He deceived me to think that the upper intake manifold and the EGR valves needed to be replaced first when he knew that the catalyst converters should have been replaced first. He accepted payment in full of 1,086.29 for work that was not satisfied. He lied about the mileage on the receipt when checking my car out of his establishment and that the car was not drivable or driven by him or anyone else in his shop after being there for 7 days, which myself and a Hertz rental car employee saw John Jobst driving the vehicle on July 1st, 2010 in and out of his place of business. He refused to give me the receit or a copy showing that the parts were new from Ford Parts, which was my right to have. I did not have use of my car until 07/24/10. I have had to purchase another upper intake manifold from Ford which is cost me an additional 323.00 dollars and the EGR valve which cost me 107.00, which I had already paid for to John Jobst at Schaumburg Automedic Inc for parts that was never replaced and I have proof that the parts that were removed from my 2005 Mercury Montego are the original parts. I had to pay 911.00 for a rental car from Hertz for 23 days because of all this deception by John Jobst. John Jobst has lied and changed his statements several times about how many miles my car was driven which leads me to believe he is a lieing, deceiving business man and has no respect for consumers. This is unethical business practices, deceitful, and totally unacceptable on how a business should be conducting business and how they treat consumers who put their trust in business recommendations, products, and services.

If you have read this complaint clearly and with your eyes open, you will see that this has been an ongoing issue since 07/12/10 when I found out the parts were still in the same damaged condition from when I had my car towed to this automobile repair shop on 07/01/10. This deception and all that this automobile repair shiop has sent me through by stealing my money from me and continuously lying and went to the extreme of falsifying documents, and for all the injustice, I had every right and liberty to complain no matter when I decided to do it, because the fact is John Jobst of Schaumburg Automedics Inc., ripped me off of 1,086.29 for repairs and parts that was never done on my car that he continuously lies about. I did not ask for this and surely did not deserve this except that I trusted this man to work on my car, and he paid me back by ripping me off of $1,086.29 for work that was NEVER done and I want every consumer to know about this deceitful, unethical, fraudulent, business practice that this repair shop has committed. So you can say what you want, but the fact is, I was ripped off. So please stop trying to turn and twist the issue around. If you did not get what I have explained in my complaint from the very beginning, please understand this. I WAS RIPPED OFF OF 1,086.29 BY JOHN JOBST OF SCHAUMBURG AUTOMEDICS INC. FOR REPAIRS AND PARTS THAT WERE NEVER DONE ON MY CAR AND HE HAS WENT TO THE EXTREME OF FALSIFYING DOCUMENTS AND CONTINUOUSLY LYING ABOUT THIS DECEPTION. I STILL HAD MY ORIGINAL ENGINEERED MANUFACTURED PARTS FROM FORD STILL ON MY CAR FROM WHEN I PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW IN 2005. AND THERE IS MUCH DOCUMENTATION AND EVIDENCE TO PROVE WHAT I HAVE STATED.

Schaumburg Automedics Inc. should pay for the intake manifold and EGR replacement (part and labor)

Technician at Schaumburg Automedics Inc. is either lack of diagnosis skill or lack of knowledge about Ford system in this case.  I don't know what kind of Ford vehicle customer has but the problem that she reports is very common on Ford 3.0L late model engine.  I think she may have either Ford Taurus, or Escape, or Ranger truck, or Mercury vehicle.  The symptoms are lack of power, broken EGR valve first then broken/leaking intake manifold.   In servere case, it only takes a few miles of driving to blow a new EGR valve.    If the technician at Schaumburg Automedics Inc. spent little more time to investigate the cause of the problem, he(she) would not replace intake manifold and EGR valve without first replacing cat. converters.  My susgestion is refund the money and re-train tech.  I can see Schaumburg Automedics Inc. won the case in court but everybody now knows your technician is not good.

If you were reading my report correctly and clearly, you will see this has been going on since July 12, 2010 and not September 8th, 2010. I took the advantage about all of this deception on September 8th, 2010, because I was tired of the deceitfulness and lies. This had nothing to do with validating my claim, because the claim was already validated. I want the consumers to know what I had to deal with and I have much evidence to back my statements. Have a blessed day!!

THE POINT IS JOHN JOBST ROBBED ME OF 1,086.29 DOLLARS

#12Author of original report

Tue, November 16, 2010

To the rebuttal that was posted by this deceptive business Schuamburg Automedics Inc,  I have been complaining about this company ripping me off of 1,086.29 of my money for repairs that were NEVER done on my car since July12, 2010, and I am sooooo very glad that there is a place a consumer can go to get some type of justice, since there are people like this business who are out there taking advantage of people who do not deserve this type of fraud, deception, and just out right injustice. It does not matter when I posted and complained about this businesse's fraud, deception, and unethical business practice, because the fact is, I was ripped off of $1,086.29 FOR REPAIRS THAT WERE NEVER DONE ON MY CAR.  The point is ALL consumers need to know about this and I am going to do whatever, I can to make sure ALL consumers are informed. This place of business has went to the point of falsifying documents to steal my money and continues to lie about the repairs that were NEVER done on my car. I was not given any justice and my civil rights have been violated due to the fact that I was not given the opportunity to present my evidence. This should not happen to anyone else who works hard for they're money, and for someone like John Jobst of Schaumburg Automedics Inc. to continue to lie and deceive about this unethical business practice and to get away with this, is so unacceptable and shows no justice to consumers, and consumers need to know about this.

To Whom It May Concern:

BBB case#94306708 in regards to Dory J. As stated in the letter sent on 27th of July, 2010, Mrs. Js vehicle was towed in and the vehicle would start and die. The mileage on the vehicle was noted on Schaumburg Automedics Inc. Repair Order #0062539 of 119622 and the tow company (Aplus Towing) also has the same mileage noted, and the repair order was signed by Mrs. J. This proves in writing that John Jobst of Schaumburg Automedics Inc did not lie about the mileage on the vehicle as Mrs. Js claims. The technician did drive the vehicle into the shop and it was running very poorly and dieing out. Mrs. J was informed on 1st of July, 2010, that the upper intake manifold did have a hole in it causing the vehicle to have a large vacuum leak and causing the engine to run very poorly and would effect further testing. The Upper intake manifold and EGR valve would have to be replaced and the vehicle would have to be retested for possible other problems. Mrs. J agreed to have the repair done on the 1st of July, 2010.After she spoke with someone on her cell phone, she declined the repairs on 1st of July, 2010, and the vehicle was pulled back outside so the vehicle could be towed to her house. Mrs. J called back on 2nd of July, 2010, and agreed to have the upper intake replaced and asked if it would be ok if the vehicle could stay until 9th of July, 2010, so she could get the money together. John Jobst stated that would be fine because the upper intake had to be ordered and would not be in until 7th of July, 2010.

On 7th of July, 2010, the upper intake manifold and EGR valve were replaced with new Ford parts. The technician road tested the vehicle about miles and returned to the shop and found the vehicle lacked power and was not drivable. The technician retested the vehicle and found the front catalytic converters were restricted. Mrs. Johnson declined replacement of the front catalytic converters and was informed the vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was ready for pick up on 7th of July, 2010, and the upper intake manifold and EGR valve were in working order. The vehicle was towed from Schaumburg Automedics Inc on 9th of July, 2010.

The vehicle was towed back to Schaumburg Automedics Inc. 13th of July, 2010, with the mileage of 119630 noted on Repair Order #0062638 and by the tow company (Aplus towing). The technician found the upper intake manifold had a burn hole in it and was not a factory defect as Mrs. J and her mechanic had stated.

Because Mrs. J did not replace both front catalytic converters, the exhaust system still had a restriction in the exhaust system, and the vehicle was driven 8 miles since the vehicle was released on 9th of July, 2010. This caused the burn hole in the upper intake manifold and is not covered under warranty, because it is not a factory defect.

This matter has been reviewed by Christopher Robinson, the AAA Chicago Approved Auto Repair Coordinator. He agrees this matter is not covered under warranty by Schaumburg Automedics Inc. or by the AAA Motor Club 12 month or 12,000 miles warranty.

Mrs. J sent a letter to Rita Elsner, the Assistant Village Attorney for the Village of Schaumburg in regards to this matter. Rita Elsner responded on 3rd of August, 2010, with a letter to Mrs. J this is a civil matter between her and Schaumburg Automedics Inc. there are no Village ordinances or codes that were violated. The letter sent to Schaumburg Automedics Inc. states, Because you have responded and pointed out the problems Ms. J created herself, we will note that the matter has been resolved and we will close our file on this matter.

In conclusion of this matter, AAA Motor Club and the Assistant Attorney of The Village of Schaumburg agree this is not customer fraud, and the repair is not covered under warranty, and it is negligence on Mrs. Js part. Mrs. J did not perform the necessary repairs (replace both front catalytic converters) and the vehicle was driven causing the damage to the upper intake manifold and EGR valve.

This matter should be closed with no penalty to Schaumburg Automedics Inc. If further copies of the signed repair orders are needed, please contact John Jobst.

Sincerely,

 John Jobst

If the dates are correct you wrote this report 5 days AFTER you had your day in court and lost.  Why did you not post that very important information, was the reason because it didn't go in your favor?

If you don't post an item that does not help you, one does have to wonder what else you are not posting.

MORE PICTURES OF THIS DECEPTION TO STATE MY CASE

I have more pictures and evidence. The pictures of these parts and documents I have included are in my possession and I can prove everything I have stated and was NOT given the opportunity to do so, which was and is a violation of my civil rights. This type of business practice has to stop, because I am SURE I am not the only consumer who has experienced this type of deception and fraud. I know times are hard, but it does not give ANYONE the right to take a consumer's hard earned money and get away with this type of business practice.

I WAS RIPPED OFF!!

#12Author of original report

Sun, November 14, 2010

This is in response to the rebuttal from John Jobst of Schaumburg Automedics Inc. This man all of a sudden produced an over 30 day old receipt on Sept. 3rd, 2010, which he refused to present to me on July 13, 2010 when I requested from him a copy or the receipt to show that he actually did purchase these supposedly new parts from a Ford Dealer. He could not present a receipt on July 13, 2010 to me because there was never a receipt to produce and he could not honor a warranty because there were no parts to honor a warranty for because he never purchased any parts for my 2005 Mercury Montego. The receipt was not given to me until over 30 days and shows many discrepancies and alterations on this bogus receipt. He also presented a copy of a document that supposedly showed the mileage on my car on 07/09/2010 when on everyone of his receipts shows no mileage change from July 1st, 2010 to July 9th, 2010 which is a violation of the Magnusson Moss Warranty Act and the Automobile Repair Act when he DROVE my car 5 miles while my car was still in his possession. Also, I paid for service and parts that were NEVER done on my car, because the original engineered parts were still on my car from when I purchased my car brand new in 2005. The service parts that he is claimed he put on my car were not the parts which were taken off my car on 07/22/2010, which I had to purchase all over again because Schaumburg Automedics Inc, never replaced the parts that they lied and stated they did. I was ripped off of 1,086.29 by John Jobst of Schaumburg Automedics Inc and he does not want his deceitful business practices to get out to the public to the consumer. I had to also pay for a rental car of 911.00 for 23 days because of this man's deceptive business practices because of all the lies and deceit that he has committed, not to mention parts that I had to repurchase again and pay for labor again, and just the total inconvenience I had to experience, and consumers need to know about this place of business so this will not happen to them.
