I am a former Schwans Sales employee, working out of Missouri. I was injured and hurt while on the job for Schwans. A manager had me go out on my route with a truck that had bad brakes and no locking devices on the freezer doors. I got me a lawyer right off the bat and he filed suit against Schwans and Prudential Insurance Co., to collect my short and long term disability. Both settled before going to court and I have drawn LTD since the mid 80's. The insurer will send me my final LTD check on April 20, 2011. Now I am left without the $756.19  check that I have drawn since the mid 80's. I will be seeking a lawyer to get some kind of retirement benefits from Schwans. They have all along sent me 1040's for part of the monthy LTD benefits paid. Although they list me as an employee, I have been unable to get the employee discount on the products, claiming I am not an employee. I was lucky to have Prudential as the LTD administrator. I have had to obtaint a number of doctors statements to keep my benefits throughout the years. I now suffer from Fibromyalgia related to the injury and have associated depression and a number of mental problems. Ron, Sikeston, MO.
