Scootertronics lied to me and told me the scooter that I wanted was in stock. After having been told this, I placed my order.

I did not hear anything back from them for several days, although their website states the following:

"All parts and accessories ship via the United States Postal Service plus UPS and are shipped within 24-48 hours when in stock, we will contact if your order is not in stock."

I was dumbfounded as to why I had yet to receive a shipping confirmation (or a notice that my item was out-of-stock), so I finally initiated contact on my end. I was then told over the phone, very rudely, that my scooter was out-of-stock and basically I was out of luck. Not only then was I lied to, but they did not even bother telling me I was lied to until I was forced to investigate myself.

To make matters worse, MUCH WORSE, my credit card had been charged in full. So not only was the item not in stock, and not only were they charging me for a product they could not provide, this clearly contradicted the terms stated on their website, as follows:

"When ordering your scooter, parts, or accessories, your credit card is not charged until we know your item is available, not when you order. If your item is not in stock, your card is not charged until we know we have part."

No legitimate business would charge for an item they are unable to provide! More so, I've ordered a scooter from another dealer and they refuse to charge their customers until they have the item in stock and are able to ship it, as they should.

The only reason I had placed the order to begin with was because I was told the scooter was in stock, and never would have ordered otherwise. Therefore, I requested a refund and that my order be canceled. Initially, their very unprofessional salesperson (who seems more like an overgrown man who never realized he was out of high school) refused my request for a refund. I then detailed the infractions on the part of Scootertronics and he finally conceded to me that he would cancel the order and issue a refund.

It has been over a week now and no refund has been granted. $1300 is not chump change to be thrown around lightly like it's nothing, and this directly affects my available credit, my ability to purchase a scooter elsewhere, and my credit score. Michael and Scootertronics has now refused to notify me of any progress on the matter or respond to my inquiries, and it seems they are unwilling to refund me for a product they are unable to provide, even after agreeing to do so.

Throughout this entire ordeal, Scootertronics (and Michael specifically) has been very rude and the discourse of his e-mails could best be described as childish rantings and sarcastic remarks, lacking anything of substance and clearly unprofessional.

I would advise each and every potential customer in the Maryland area as well as nation- and worldwide to steer clear of doing business with Scootertronics. They have exposed themselves as liars, thieves, and immature, overgrown adults who are unable to conduct themselves in a professional manner.

I only wish I had gone with my gut and avoided Scootertronics from the beginning, and have found that despite their absurd (and patently false) claim on their website that they have yet to an unsatisfied customer, there are others who have had problems with Scootertronics. One such person had actually started a blog sometime ago, found at the following address: scootertronicsmd.blogspot.com

I wish I had read that previous customer's blog beforehand and taken their claims seriously, as this has been a hassle for me. I emphasis once more: all potential customers need to avoid doing business with Scootertronics.

Customer Received Full Credit Refund to Card

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

Tue, January 13, 2009

Its hard to please everyone but I did everything I could to get this customer his refund to his card and did so in the time it takes to do it. He ordered one afternoon and called back the next morning to find out if the scooter had been shipped.

Scootertronics does not drop ship scooters from warehouses but preps every scooter and this customer did not want to wait and did not understand why it would take time to remove scooter from crate, do prep and test ride and deliver scooter in our van or 24 foot truck. So we had not completed procedure. Its true we did not have all colors in stock and did not have his color, I had thought I had them but because of all the orders we get someone else had sold last color he wanted a few hours his order the day before and I did not know that until he called next morning and while he was on phone with me I checked and we had none in his color.

At this time I refunded his card and it takes time to come from our account and into his, credit card companies say 10 days but I think it takes about five.

Yes I was very unhappy with this customer because he kept telling me I was ripping him off and I had not even had a chance to do anything. He kept insulting me and telling me how credit card processing works. You can not order something one day and get credit card refund posted to a card the next day. He was sitting at his computer telling me I had not given him credit.
