I received this email: From: scope.group.job@gmail.com Dear First Last,

Scope Group Inc. has announced a new job opening and proposes you to
join our team. Our company provides multiple services, including
financial and specifically escrow services for online auctions. Our
clients deal with large auctions such as ebay.com , yahoo.com and private auctions with a small number of clients.

All payments from our customers are processed via bank transfers. In
fact, we need to get payments for our products as soon as possible to
be able to provide our services quickly. The problem is that we are
unable to process customer's payments fast enough because international
bank transfers take about 7-15 working days to be completed. We lose
money because of delays and that's why we have opened new job position
for solving this problem.

Please note: this job takes 2-3 hours a day and gives much free time to
be employed elsewhere. We are looking only for applicants who meet our
requirements and can be successful employees in the nearest future.

Your functions:
1. Receive payments from our customers;
2. Deduct 8% (your commission);
3. Forward payments according to instructions to any of our offices.

Financial Agent position is offered on trial basis. During the first 30
days your base salary will be $2,300 per month, excluding percentage
from clients' payments. Also you'll be trained and instructed by our
personnel managers. After the trial period, base salary is increased up
to $3000 a month. NOTE: You'll be given a chance to start working
full-time or receive additional tasks.

Awaiting your prompt reply.

I figured it was a scam, but emailed back anyway, because none of the information they requested was really private.  After about a week, they send me (from the same email address) this: Hello,

You were interested in the Financial Agent position with Scope Group Inc.,
but unfortunately I haven't heard from you for a while.

You are one of two candidates who is eligible for the remaining two positions.
We have reviewed your resume and if you are interested we would like to extend
this vacancy to you.

Phone: +1 6468459159
Fax: +1 6464789391 Thanks for the offer, Susan.  But I don't think I am interested in giving you ALL of my personal information, including all of my bank account information, a faxed copy of my driver's license, etc.  Hahaha, good try!  Whoever made this one up actually did a lot of work and must have spent a lot of time to make it look legitimate. Basically, they want you to give them your bank account information so they can monitor transactions from their foreign clients, but really they just want to take your money.  The job never really made sense, but the site (http://www.scope-group.cc) looked reasonably legitimate.  You can click on the 'Our Partners' tab and see the numerous awards and partnership certificates they have.  The first was from the 'Government Finance Officer's Association' which is a legitimate association, for the 'Award of Financial Reporting Achievement'.  Too bad this association only gives awards to government entities.  Similarly, the Chamber Awards never issued them the '2004 Most Promising New Business Award', PayPal and WesternUnion likely have no idea what their partnership certificates are doing on the site.  All of the images are doctored, and actually look pretty doctored when you click on the images and look at them closely. Do not be fooled by this company or any other like it!  They operate under a number of different aliases.  Anytime you get an email from a company claiming they got your information from Monster, CareerBuilder, etc. be very cautious!
