Complaint Review: Scott Koppenhafer

Scott Koppenhafer, LLC was hired to replace our aluminum siding with vinyl, replace our windows (window replacement, inside trim and sills including a 3-season porch which remains unfinished with new windows installed on rotted sills), replace all interior doors and trim, build a deck, and remove our front door surround/storm door and replacing them with new ones.

Scott was supposed to start on or about May 15, 2007. He showed up June 12, 2007 and still has not finished the job to our satisfaction. We have unfinished window and door trim, unfinished siding/soffit issues, he framed our interior doors without shims leaving 1/2 inch to 1-1/2 inch gaps in the interior and exterior door jams covered by trim, Reveals that are 3/4 inch or more on each window and door frame, installed the wrong size closet doors (4 of them), an exterior rear door that is damaged and does not close, left our front exterior door trim cut and marked (due to door surround removal it was not replaced), failed to reinstall the main electrical trunk line to our house, cut away carpet in front of each interior door/closet door without our permission, and left over a dozen extension ladder holes in our newly laid asphalt driveway.

Scott frequently stayed away from the jobsite. He never worked more than two days a week and left many messages stating he would show up only not to. I have pictures and video of all aspects of this unprofessional contracting job if needed.

Scott and his one employee packed up their tools and left on 8/15/07 and have not returned. Scott has not returned my phone calls, and we are assuming he has abandoned our project unfinished. We paid him approx. $25,000 and refused make another further payments until this project is complete and passes inspection.

The Town of Clifton Park, NY building inspector has failed the inspection of the siding/soffits and deck. We hired a NYS licensed Home Inspection service which failed its inspection as well. We are looking into in the process of litigating this situation.
