Recently I had to see a doctor at Scripps. After a brief appointment of 10 minutes I was charged hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Extremely rude staff and poor treatment. At these medical clinics like Scripps they refuse to tell you how much a doctor visit or treatment will cost. They are worms and tell you "go check with your insurance."
Oh really? Everytime I've heard this completely ignorant answer and ask my health insurnace company, they say, "We don't know the amount Scripps charges, you need to ask them. We only process the claim they send us."
What other industry, professional or business can legally hide their price, send you basically whatever they feel they should charge and then send you to a collection agency if you can't pay it?
This patethic. I tried contacting Christopher Williams in patient relations and Scripps Health billing. He is not helpful, has been putting me off and has been delaying helping me this. Then he responds later will a letter he will send me to collection agency if I don't pay this outrageous bill!
He only provides a standard copy and paste answers like robot to all correspondances. The medical industry is a total scam. No wonder there are no controls on health care costs and they go up higher and higher each year. That's what happens when one industry can hide the price, play pricing games, charge whatever they want and send you to a collection agency if you can't afford the ridiculous pricing. Christopher Williams, SHAME ON YOU for not helping patients who get mistreated and over billed.
Just look at all the complaints about Scripps on Yelp.com and the Better Business Bureau and the pathetic copy and paste reply Christopher Williams gives in each reply to the complaint. He never addresses the details of the complaint, obviously doesn't give a crap and hides behind the enormous corporate medical billing scam that is being played out everyday.
I have written documentation of that this is the truth. You only need to look at the Scripps Health Better Business Bureau complaints and other sites like Yelp.
An Example of a typical reply to BBB complaints go as follows:
After completing a detailed review of the complaint received, it was determined that the care and services provided were medically appropriate and within the standard of care.
Thank you Chris. I hope you improve rather than continue to insist sucking every last penny out of each bill from patients who have contacted you, told you the can't afford it and when you ignore them and send them to a collection agency.
