Complaint Review: Scum from Meadowvale

Hey everyone! What an unusual scam. Little money involved, however this episode shows to what degree some individuals are prepared to go to steal just $ 25.

Two days ago my fax machine broke down. It was actually fax/modem card in PC. I needed something in a hurry and for only purpose to receive few pages that were about to be sent to me. Opened Kijiji found ads with used stand alone fax machines for good price, selected one fairly close to me, it had phone number listed in the ad.  Made phone call got info: it's a 1 year old Panasonic machine in good working order. That's okay with me. Meeting was set up to do the business: Pizza Pizza at Meadowvale Town Centre. I went there, gentleman was already there (he said he's husband of the lady who placed the ad). Confirmation was done, same information has been confirmed to me: it's 1 year old machine in good working order. So I got this machine and gentlemen got his $ 25.

Went home, started this machine and asked other party to send faxes that were urgent to me. Then checked the manual (it was included). Woooa! Inside there was a date of purchase: June 28, 1997! Not 1 year old or 2 or 3, but 18 and a half! In the mean time Panasonic fax failed to receive anything. The sending party went furious, understandably so. Then I tried to fax a page to same party and of course machine didn't send anything. This guy and/or lady knowingly sold me a defective device claiming it was in good working order. What scums!

I sent text to the seller only to be rebuffed by nonsense excuses. Like it needs to warm up. Then I called, lady answered and after few words, whan told I want my money back, she simply hung up the phone. I took photos of defective device, and text messages exchanged and am ready to enclose these as well.

If anyone recognizes phone number (this is the only piece of ID that I have) please let me know. Remedy is available, but need to know who this scum is.
