To begin with, Sean Ahern talked my mother into backing out of a contract she had signed with another contractor after he did some research and discovered the company allows cancelation of the contract within 3 days. My mother cancelled and agreed to let Sean have the job, signing a contract with his company. However, she decided she wanted more time to decide which product she wanted and informed Sean within 3 days that she was cancelling her contract with him, to which he responded that he was going to take her to court to sue for breach of contract.

Sean has breached the contract multiple times and seems to think he's not bound by any agreement he makes. My mother told him from the start that she wanted him to wait until August to do the job. He said he would like to do it in May and she could pay him in August. He has done nothing but lie and use intimidation since.

My mother paid Sean part of the money up front and agreed in writing that she was to pay the remaining balance once she received a rebate check from GoodCents, an energy company, offering rebates to people who get energy efficient upgrades done to their homes. Somehow Sean has it in his head that he can change agreements at will. He has no idea how to run a business, much less how to deal with people.

Sean didn't do all of the work that was in the contract until GoodCents, the company he got the job through, told him he had to finish the work. GoodCents determined the tape he had used to seal the ducting wasn't sufficient and he needed to redo it with something that couldn't be as easily removed, and to his credit he made sure to seal them in a more fitting manner. But doing one thing right does not make up for the lies, the harassment, and the psychological abuse he has subjected my family to.

Sean has called repeatedly--sometimes up to a dozen or more times in a day--harassing my mother; even going as far as leaving inappropriate messages on my mother's answering machine as well as her voicemail. Today he came to my mother's house to try to intimidate her into bending to his will. Thankfully police were at a house nearby for something unrelated to this and they were able to convince Sean to leave and told my mother she could file phone harassment charges against Sean on Monday, and if he comes on her property uninvited in the meantime it's criminal trespassing and she can call the police and they will come remove him from her property.

But does that stop Sean from calling as soon as he gets down the street to continue his harassment and intimidation, no not Sean. He is threatening to put a lean on my mother's house, even though it's his own fault that he hasn't been paid the remaining balance owed to him because he sent in paperwork without my mother's signature which is causing a delay on her rebate. Sean has a completely unprofessional attitude; he is deceptive and manipulative.

Sean is also trying to tack on extra charges for a supposed late fee, which there is no mention of in the contract, as well as for transportation for coming to my mother's house without contacting her to see if she was going to be here, and some other bogus fee. Sean is not concerned about treating his customers right; Sean's concern is Sean. He's a full grown bully trying to use intimidation to get his way.

I really don't see how his company hasn't gone under already, but if this is his standard business practice his company will surely fail. I do not suggest doing business with this unscrupulous man playing businessman. He is nothing but a headache to deal with, so save yourself the grief.
