I went to Sears Auto Center on 3/2/13 to purchase a new battery. I have gone there for the past 20 years. Within 2 hours of the battery purchase, I was contacted by Kmart fraud department because a purchase had been made online with my card information that looked suspicious. Kmart owns Sears which may explain how the credit card data was captured and used. The fraudster attempted to purchase a $220 fishing reel and have it shipped elsewhere. Luckily, this was prevented, although I had to go through calling American Express and issuing another card. Of course, this meant that all charges that are automatically posted to the card each month had to be updated with the new card number; in my case, a big task. I have no solid proof that Sears Auto Center is where the data was stolen, but it seems odd that there had been no problems before this purchase... And after the purchase, the smoking gun of fraud. I will never go there again.
