Around January 15, 2008 Sears Auto replaced my Ford Probe's car battery (a Sears Diehard Gold) under warranty because the battery wouldn't hold a charge for more than a day. About a month later the battery completely exhausted its charge just one day after I didn't drive it. I then took my Ford back to Sears. One technician said the alternator was good and another technician said it was bad. So I signed a contract at Sears to replace the alternator on February 25, 2008. On February 29 and March 2 my car battery was once again dead after not driving the car for one day each time. Each time my car wouldn't start I would jump start it with a battery pack meant for the task. On or around March 3 I talked to salesman Sam who told me to get my car fixed elsewhere (and Sears would reimburse me $438.39) which I did at Cartender's of Rockville,MD. He diagnosed the problem as a light on the hatchback was on all the time due to the hatch being partially open. He also replaced and cleaned the battery contacts.

On March 7 I talked to an Assistant Manager at Sears Auto who told me it's common practice when Sears Auto can't fix a customer's car to have them take it elsewhere for repairs and Sears will refund the money paid.

On March 27 I talked to the Sears Auto Manager Matt and he refused to provide any compensation for installing the altenator claiming my car needed it. Even after installing the altenator my car's battery died within 48 hours of not using it. Clearly it was not the altenator being defective but Sears incompetent technicians refused to admit it.

Be wary of going to Sears to get your car repaired. I see from this web site there are a lot of complaints against Sears for auto repairs.
