I purchased a Kenmore dishwasher in January 2004. This July (2006) it started leaking and making an awful noise.

I asked Sears Canada to check it out but they said it would take two weeks or more to have a technician out to check it. Meanwhile I had a local independant repairman look at it. It needs a new motor. Motor and seals are shot.

The thing is only just past warranty.

Sears sends out a repairman anyway to look at it while I'm on vacation???

Sears refuses to honor their product so I get ANOTHER independant repairman to check it out. He is a former Sears repairman (15-18 years experience). He orders the part from Sears on the phone at my house.

When he comes to replace the motor, Sears has sent him the wrong motor, the turbidity sensor is the wrong size. On the phone with Sears, they try to tell him he ordered the wrong part.

It's going to cost over $300.00 CDN to fix this thing that is their fault, they send the wrong part and it costs me another service fee because they screwed up.

I want another dishwasher, this thing is crap.

About My Experience

What you described was about my experience with sears except they didn't make good on anything. The repairman returned four times of the five times he was suppose to, didn't fix it right, had to order the part the next time, the next time the part did show up, they mail the part to the house, the next time it was the wrong part, then they mailed the correct part and he didn't show up. I installed the correct part myself and cancelled FOUR MA's on different sears appliances in the house. Had a new GE dishwasher installed in the new house we built. They gave us our choice of GE or kenmore. When they said kenmore, I said "Hell no".

The first GE dishwasher lasted nine years years. I've had the second for four years. I figure that's not too bad considering that well water is hard on dishwashers.

After a registered letter to the acting President of Sears Canada (Dene Rogers), I finally got some action on this issue. They have now offered almost $600.00 credit towards the purchase of a new dishwasher. I still won't buy an extended warranty.
