First of all I warn all people to NEVER step foot into a sears store.  I made the mistake of applying for their citibank credit card which was the worst idea I ever had.  With a small balance (less than $500) on my account I had missed my monthly payment by 2 days.  I will admit that was my fault, I am only human.  When I contacted their customer service department and asked him if he could waive the late fee he said that would be no problem as long as I made a payment with him. I told him I'd like to pay off the remaining balance so that i would be done with the balance on this card, which is exactly what happened.  Then 2 month later I get a report from my credit monitoring service saying that sears filed a claim against me for not paying my bill for two month.  When i go and check my online account i see there is 2 late fees (one for each month that passed).  When I call sears and asked them about why am i being charged late fees they tell me that my late fee waiver was denied,  But she would be glad to waive both of those late fees.  HOW DOES THIS MAKE SENSE???  How can you deny me first then waive to fees later? After arguing back and forth she kept stating to me that they sent statements to mailbox, which is a lie because i went paperless so they havent sent me a statement thru the mail in years. I was never notified that my waiver was denied, I was never given a courtesy call, and I was under the impression that i did not owe them any money.  I feel like I am being scammed by a large corporation who can screw little guys like me and get away with it.  Now my credit score has dropped and they wont do anything to help me.  You cant talk to these people, its like they're robots reading from a script.  They DO NO CARE ABOUT THERE CUSTOMERS.  I have written to the credit bereau disputing these charges and hopefully they will remove this from my credit.  How can such a huge company not care about its customers?  My name might not be big enough to make the headlines but I will never shop at sears or suggest to anybody that I even come into contact with to shop there.

I know what probably happened and honestly I see it almost everyday.  The Rep will say they will waive the late fee because they don't want to say No.  The Rep only can put a request in for it, they don't actually have a way to guarntee they can waive it, even though they make it sound that way.  In your case this is what happened it sounds like. They requested it, the request was denied, you were on paperless and didn't get the email notification. Sorry this happened to you.
