I had contacted Sears Duct cleaning service in order to have my ducts clean. I wanted to know the pricing of 20 vents they quoted me a price of $329.00 and it is on there web site to see pricing so I scheduled and appointment. On this site they did not have any information listed any services like blower cleaning, coil cleaning or any services dealing with the furnace. Doing that day of service a service guy came with two other guys and they started to work. I myself clean the blower every now and then so it was not that dirty and told him I change me air filter every three months as required. He tried to tell me that my system was really dirty when he cut a hole in the side of the intake duct he stated that it was mold. I said yes there was dirt if it was mold I couldn't say without a test. I myself had a home inspector certify, out weeks ago before they had done it and done a test on my house yes he did not check the furnace. And also you cannot tell mold just by looking at it because dust look like mole look like dust.

I watched some of the work being done by the head technician then we went upstairs and he started to explaining to me about and UV light system. In which I knew about so he started telling me the benefits and the pricing I told them I had price them from $149 up depending on the make and model. He asked me would I like to get the system the quoted me a price. I did not have time to check and see about pricing because you wanted to know about installing one right then. I asked him did I need one or two you stated two as it was $575 each I said Man! So I went along with it he later said I needed one light in the intake and two lights in the discharge.

After the guys finish cleaning the ducts one of them came upstairs and told the guy they were finish. Then the head technician told me I needed my coil and blower clean they had not done the work as of yet. I asked him the price he told me the price of the coil cleaning was $750.00 I told them that a lot I do not remember if the quoted me a price for the blower on the ticket the charge me $325.00. At first I wasn't going to do it but he stated that if I didn't get it clean then anything in them would be blown back into the system then the ducts would have to be cleaned again. I asked them whey didn't the service department tell me this then I could have many better judgment call whether to use their service. He started they don't know to me this is kind of strange if you selling cleaning service and you are the head of the department sale. So then I said OK do it.

When they finished he started filling the paper work out. He started putting down the items and then he gave me the paper work and told me to initial each one. I thought to myself this was strange then he asked me then he asked for the paper back and he finished putting down the prices in writing some information then he asked me to initial the information I did. As he was writing a didn't see all the prices but I saw the total price of $2834.50 I said man this thing is almost $3000 he smile. Then I started thinking I said Man I got ripped off.

So after a couple days of thinking I call Sears duct service and explaining to the service department what happened. I told the young lady how much is it to clean a coil and blower she said she didn't know it is up to the technician. I stated is the technician working for sears or is he working independent. She said it depends on the situation I told her something is not right then we finish talking. Days later I call again and I talk to a guy at customer service. I explain everything to him again and he said that a little to high. Told me to talk to the manager. I call again on Monday and another guy customer service tried to act like everything was normal with a price of $1075.00 to clean a coil and a blower. I am electrician so I know how to clean a coil we do it at work. All you do is remove the cover and vacuum the coil and sprayed it with a chemical coil solution wait and rinse it off. Sometimes you may do it twice. And the blower you blew it off with an air or vacuum it out. So I told him I wanted to talk to the manager he stated later that the manager does not take care of this matter it is a complaint department.

So I call the corporate headquarters in Illinois and I talk to four different people what happened. I told them to me I was over charged for a service an ripped of all in order for the company to make money. They connected me with the complaint department I told them I did not get anywhere she stated that you agree to it I say yes. But I told her why and that I was charge too much money for this little job but I did not get anywhere with her. I stated you can buy a coil for that much money she said on no it's around $1400.00 I just listen. So I check the price from Airco supply in VA and they said it from $330.00 to $500.00 and something it depend on the model of the furnace for a new one. I stated that I did not get no estimate and nothing was advertise on the web site so I could have known in many judgment call. She stated that we do not put this information on the web site to me they are hiding information to get into your home. She put her manager order phone as she agreed with the other lady I did not get anywhere I told her the same thing about advertising and having this information posted on this site to me is like a double standard. She stated she will being this to the broad meeting. I said you list on your site duct cleaning but when a technician come into your home he started going on like a salesperson. And you have not seen anything about pricing in writing or on the web site.

So I did some investigation and got two quotes from two different companies and what they charge one was Ace -pro cleaning service $400.00 for the cleaning of the ducts, coil and blower all together. The other was V clean company 1-866-542-0596 $169.00 for the duct and 199.00 for the coil and 199.00 for the blower. I was checking on the Internet and they are a lot of people they have been ripped off by sears ducts service using the same tactic as what happened to me.
