SEARS, KMART SERVICE CENTER MAYTAG CONSUMER SERVICES med Shut. MAYTAG CONSUMER SERVICES ripoff CLEVELAND Tennessee
For Christmas 2003 my Mother bought a new Maytag oven Model MER 6872 BAS for my wife. The price was about 1300.00. The first time my wife used the clean cycle, the door locking mechanism jammed and would not open. That was April of 2004. We paid 109.00 to have the door motor mechanism fixed. On every attempt to use the clean cycle the door jams closed, and to date we have had the same part replaced ( 4 times) at a total repair cost of over 600.00. One technician told us the entire stove was a bogus design and there was no way to fix it. We sent a certified letter to the Maytag Consumer Services division and have never received the courtesy of a response. Today, we again had the same part replaced and my wife told the service man to start the clean cycle- Naturally, 3 hours later, the clean cycle is finished and the door is again jammed shut. We now plan to call the service man back again and when he puts in the new part, ask him to start the clean cycle, and when it jams shut we will call him back again and again until he replaces the part 50 times at his expense. PS- we pay with credit card, and so each charge is disputed for poor quality repair.
