I purchased a water heater from sears which had a six year warranty on the tank. The tank bursted and began leaking after four years, it was on the weekend so i replaced it with another water heater myself.

I contacted the 800 numbers for sears and explained what happened, after getting the run around and given wrong information and transferred to the consumer complaint division with sears I was told the warranty was void due to their service tech not coming out to check and replace the heater. I told them i had the heater and would deliver it to where they needed it or they could come to my house and check it, I was told since i had replaced it the warranty was void.( I'am a licensed plumber.) What it boiled down to was they could not come out and charge me hundred's of dollars for changing the heater therefore they would not warranty it.

Also the warranty said nothing about they had to service the heater in order to stand behind the warranty. Buy from Sears at your own risk, I don't plan to buy anything else from them.
