Sears Robuck What has happened to Sears? ripoff Nationwide
As with many others on this web site we have also had bad experience with Sears.
We used to be one of Sears most loyal customers. They used to be a good company. As a matter of fact a friend said if Sears made cars we would have that also. BUT In the last eight years since we have moved to this house we have had:
1) a 16 horse rider lawn mower
2) a 25 horse rider lawn mower / tractor
3) 2 (two) weed whips ( one also had two brush blades, this one lasted two years)
4) two leaf blowers (one gas and one electric)
5) a 18V cordless drill
6) a 7.2 cordless drill
That's not to mention all the little things we have had to replace. Remember we had a house full of Sears merchandise.
The first lawn tractor the transmission went out and the repair guy told us it would be cheaper to buy a new one, so of course we did. Big mistake. The second one was bigger and we have had someone out here 3 times this summer to fix the thing and it quit again this week. Have to have them come out again.
The weed whips. well what can I say, the first one has a bad switch they no longer have the replacement parts as told to us by a independat repair shop (not sears). The second one we didn't even waste time calling them or taking it in.
Now for the leaf blowers, The gas one they didn't even try to fix, just told us it was not repaiable. The second one? It's electric and we've had it two years, I had to replace the switch this year.
As for the drills. They no longer have the replacement batteries for the cordless drills and the originals are dead. The new drills have a new style battery that does not fit in the older model styles. So we have tossed those two drill away and except for the batts they still worked.
My brother in law has had a John Deer rider and has had it for more than 20 years, went with them for four moves and each had at least a two acre lot.
I think sears ought to stick with hand tools and maybe small push lawn mowers, (we have had our push mower for about 10 years) though I wonder if we had used it exclusively we may have had to replace it too.
We do have a shop vac that we got as a wedding gift 20 years ago, and this still works. And I have gotten some very nice jewelry as gift from my husband.
Those still work.
I am going to write a letter to them as I think all persons who have had problems should also do. Who knows, maybe they would get the idea if they were flooded with complaint letters.
For 22 years I worked for a cardiac pacemaker company and what would have happened to all those patients / customers if we had made products like they sell at Sears!?

Sears loaned a bankruptcied KMart the money to buy Sears... tax evasion, I guess. Now, we have all of KMarts management, corporate and store level. Guess what happens when you take management from a bankrupt competitor? BAD MANAGEMENT!! Write your letter, sir, and mention somewhere in there about poor treatment of employees who don't even have a union.
