Bought a top of the line (so I thought) Calypso washer in 12-23-2000. The first one came off the truck smashed. Sears got me another the following week. One year and a month or so later the washer quit. Evidently the seal blew and took out the upper end of the washer to the tune of $500 plus. Year 2, almost exactly one year to the day, the seal blew and took out the upper portion of the machine. Several calls to local, customer service, parts etc, came to the conclusion I didn't know what I was talking about and I needed to pay the $65 service call to have a trained technician tell me what the matter was before they could decide on a solution. OK, I paid the $65 and the diagnosis was that the seal blew and it needed another $500 plus to fix the problem. The same seal they replaced one year before. A call to the tech's supervisor was futile, he stated it wasn't under warranty so tough. Further calls to the Louisville office and the Executive office came with the same "sorry, its not in warranty". A $1,100 top of the line washer that doesn't work more than a year at a time and I'm told tough. Actually I was told that they could make recommendations to the store, and that I would receive a phone call from someone once on 4-24-03, and again on 4-25-03 after I had placed another call. I am still waiting. I am also still waiting for an e-mail response from both the 3-2002 and the 4-2003 emails I wrote. Seems Sears doesn't know how to use e-mail. The beauty of it all is that I've been buying washers, dryers, tools, lawn mowers, dishwashers, and on and on from Sears since 1979. They have a management style that Montgomery Wards had and where are they? I can assure all out there that I will NEVER purchase from Sears again. And I highly suggest that anyone that reads this follow the same advice. Tim Las Vegas, Nevada
