Seattle Coffee Direct sales theives Evanston Illinois
I love Coffee and live in a small town where gourmet coffee and supplies is harder to get locally. Like an Idiot, I signed up for this MONTHLY coffee service. The initial promotion was $9.00 and receive a coffee grinder and my first 2 12oz packages of coffee. Which would be repeated monthly at a charge of 12.50 per pack plus "small shipping and handling fee".
In the agreement and description of service there is a ONE LINE sentence stating that due to availability shipments may vary in frequency. (thats their disclaimer. also there is nowhere that says what their ship/handling fee is)I received my introduction supply of 2 12oz packages and "free gift" coffee grinder.
THEN 4 DAYS later I received another BUBBLE PACK with 2 more 12oz packs of coffee beans. IN 1 10 business day period I received 3 more bubble packs of coffee. Checking with my bank I find I have been charged $48.50 for each one of the bubble packs and $25.00 for my Promo introductory purchase = over 175.00.
THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN QUESTION OR CANCEL IS TO CALL THEIR NUMBER. NOWHERE ON THEIR WEB SITE IS A WAY TO DO ANYTHING EXCEPT CHANGE YOUR CHOICE OF COFFEE FLAVORS.
You annot call before 8 or after 5, only M-F. My working schedule makes this impossible and I have no availability to make personal calls from where I work.
So I take a day off to take care of this. I ask to make sure only one shipment per month, as I CANNOT afford these multiple charges. was told about the "frequency of shipments may vary" in the agreement and we cannot control that. Also asked about the $48.50 per shipment - $23 is for shipming a 2lb bubble pack. (I have sent 8lb boxes via the same shipper for much less than half that)
I immediately cancelled my "membership" but no way to return and refund the coffee I already received as the "bubble pack was opened".
Be assured I will go back to driving 45 miles to find coffee for my ONE allowance into extravance. It is going to take a year at my income to make up for this BLUNDER.

Seattle Coffee Direct is run by Brian Dale, President of Peel Inc.
I signed up for the "introductory offer" too, as did 100-1000s of people.
I contacted peel.com
Brian emailed me back, wanting my phone number so he could talk to me & resolve this... DON'T THINK SO!!! I'm not ready to talk to that liar!!!
I filed a consumer complaint at www.ftc.org
They have responded well. I hope others do the same. THERE IS STRENGTH IN NUMBERS!!!
What has really helped me is that I saved ALL the web pages I could on SeattleCoffeeDirect. They are in a SAFE PLACE, awaiting futher action. If a Law Firm could take this on, I hope the pages I saved will be of help!!!
I also filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau at www.chicago.bbb.org
I hope you do the same!!! There are MANY registered complaints so far!
Let's get this guy:)
I also have a Rip-off report #303323
