If you get an interview here...run! It will save you worlds of trouble. If you find yourself in a interview, don't be surprised when the world's most annoying ringtone starts bellowing through the dingy "office"...this is standard. If the manager is giving you money signs with his hands and giving you the impression that a lot of money is to be made with the company...kindly laugh, thank him for his time and continue your job hunt.

I believe that CareerBuilder.com needs to change the job description to the following:

Come work for Seccion Amarilla where we don't stand behind our work. Our book is full of misprints, wrong information and we have the worlds worst impression with previous customers. 97% of our customers are unsatisfied with their product and "refuse to do business with us again" (direct qoute from many companies).

Here you will utilize your sales skills to be a telemarketer, the leads we give you are bogus and only lead to angry people on both ends of the phone. No territory is given so you will be stepping on peoples feet and will get nowhere.

The sales manager is one of your biggest competitors and has it set up so that when someone gets fired (which is about on average 2 people a week) the accounts that they were working on become house accounts...House accounts go to the managers desk and the managers closes the deal and collects a MUCH higher commission than you would have.

So the moral of the story is when you are browsing on CareerBuilder and desperation starts to seek in because you feel like you can't find a job...take a deep breath and skip over Seccion Amarilla.

been there done that

Be Very Careful Before You Pass On Something Better Than This!

Here are some of the reasons I will be leaving at the end of the month. First, if you want to talk about short sighted and dis-organized management this is a prime example. I have been in the yellow pages for the last six years and I can tell you one thing for sure....they really don't know how to launch a new book at all. Hopefully someone from management realizes that you are really hurting any potential success you may have in your new markets. First you should have paid for tracking lines for different sized ads throughout the top 20 headings. This would then help establish something called credibility. For me it shows a lack in confidence in your product. Don't say "Well we know it works." because potential new clients and current reps don't drink the same Kool-aid as you. Secondly, you are really going to tick off a lot of the high dollar advertisers in your local markets with this product, and for your information,it typically takes 7-10 years to have these advertisers actually pay to get back into your book. As far as being a rep you better have some serious training under your belt. My experience has also been that their turnover is on the high side of the scale. The training you receive is a joke and would recommend you get your feet wet by working for a much larger utility rather than a niche product that has absolutely no real yellow page training set in place.

Their internet results are a joke and yes I know you just relaunched the site but give me a break and do some real research and you will find your pricing is absolutely ridiculous. A weighted scale here would increase your sales. Also, only having 17 links coming into your site is just plain dumb. Please,oh please hire someone who knows what they are doing. You need to have a minimum of at least 900-1000 if you want an online directory to be successful. One last thing you will greatly increase your traffic and improve natural search results by having an English translation as well.(Just FYI)

Other than the above listed reasons for leaving I would like leave you with this, I have been offered a sales management position at another company and that I am not disgruntle or even upset, I just think people should know what the situation is currently like here.

Yes it's probably true that the original poster was terminated. But, the facts are identical to what I experienced 1500 miles away.
Misspellings, wrong headings (ex. Insurance companies under Attornies-Bicycle Shops under Autombile Dealers)
None of the 13 renewal accounts I was given wanted to renew. Only 2 or 3 where even civil to me.

This company could be a great one, the potiental is there. I think the biggest problem of all is the hypocrisy that Seccion Amarilla doesn't advertise. No one knows about this book. All the utility yellow pages advertise constantly.
I believe corporate heads haven't a clue how to run this business. I was told that my group of fellow trainees (8 total-3 months later, none work there) were the first to go through a company training program.

I'm sure there are those doing well in this business, but they are few and far between.

The person who wrote a negative letter in regard to seccion amarilla needs to take a look in the mirror. this is the faster growing company in america getting better results for its clients than any other book printed. An employe in any sales organization is expected to produce sales. this person lost sight of that somewhere between getting $500.00 per week along with united healthcare benefits, paid hoildays, vacation, sick leave, etc....and so on. the bottom line is you couldn't sell.

just simply face the fact. someone once said that a person needs to be true to themselves and realize what you are good at along with realizing what they are not. in this case you (who wrote this) needs to look in the mirror and be true to yourself. you are not a sales person!. it's one thing to lie to others, however its another thing to lie to yourself. go find yourself a job punching a clock at: walmart, burger king, or wherever you can earn a check without thinking to much.
please gain some intelligence before trying to attack someone without proof along with mis-imformation, that you have created in your own mind.

Hopefully this reaches you at the unemployment office.

Thank You
