They called me about a job doing secret shopping, my resume was retrevied off of Monsters.com (or so they told me). i received a letter explaining what i was to do and a check made out to me for 2,630.00. i was to go to my bank and cash the check, then go to Wal-Mart and send a money gram to someone in Ontario, Canada.

I went to Wal Mart and did as I was told on 3/13/06 sent a money gram to Tom Coursey in Ontario,Canada.

Then a week later my bank called me and told me that the check was coming back (return to maker)

....that if you are asked to send money to someone somewhere in exchange for a job, it's a scam...pure and simple.

Ruth, I'm glad you were spared this difficulty, and wish you the very best.

I get those secret shoppers in mass emails from a BUNCH of different people, If I were you I would notify my bank of this scam, and print this, if you can. I have even thought about doing it, and I am so glad you spared me from that.Thankyou so much for this posting, I have seriously thought about it, they say in ther emails you can shop and keep you purchases, I just felt wrong when I read it, I am so sorry for what happened to you, but I wouldlike you to know YOU saved ONE person from falling for it, I am disabled and home alot, I have trouble with the fact I was SO active and now am bored to tears, don't get me wrong Ilove my family but it is NOT my job, I went to school to be a nurse, I worked so hard, was extremely active, then in 03 I had an accident, and found my self after nuerous surgeries completely unable to work, so I thought about doing the shopping thing.
I cannot thank you enough and now when I get those emails I will report them to AOl as a scam. Thank you again.

This has nothing to do with any company...you got scammed! This is a very common scam, in fact....cash a check and send a percentage of the funds to another party, usually overseas. It's often tried on unsuspecting ebayers. A party says they have an interest in an item for sale, normally a high-dollar item. They say they will send a money order for an amount in excess of the selling price, and you are in turn to send them their "change"...and they're in Nigeria, Europe, or some other faraway place.

I'm sorry this happened to you.
