Secured Benefits Connection LLC- AKA Legal Shield, formerly Pre-Paid Legal False Job Posting-took personal information Minneapolis Minnesota
I responded to this ad below on Craigs List. I clicked on the link to their website, applied, and uploaded my resume and cover letter as requested. I spent a lot of time writing a perfect cover letter. This is not the main issue-the issue is that I gave them my personal information for something that looks completely legitimate. Nothing on this screamed "scam" to me. I have a lot of friends that work from home at legitimate jobs (not MLM) so working remotely isn't unusual
I received a response from a Megan Gerdahl-Corporate Recruiter-to "attend" a conference call "interview/job details". So I set aside time out of my day to call into the conference call with a pen and notebook. The call took 45 minutes of my time. It was a pre-recorded male talking about this "job"-what it entails. He said the Remote Assistant spends 15-20 mins a day posting sales recruiting jobs to free websites. When a potential recruit responds I simply refer them to Secured Benefits, and if they are hired I get a finder's fee. They said they were a broker that sells several hot products and services. One is a telemedicine membership; one an annuity, the other-a "paid monthly legal access plan". Hmmm...that sort of raised a red flag "Pre-Paid Legal" in my mind-but that didn't apply to me as this position was not about selling Pre Paid Legal...
He then went into compensation. As a "Junior Remote Recruiting Assistant" I would get a "finders fee" of $75 for every sales person referred to the company that is hired. HOWEVER, depending on performance, I could move up into being FULLY VESTED, a "Senior RA" where the commission is performanced based, receive $150 finders fee and a percentage of the amount of products the potential sales person sells...and the product focus is now only on the "legal access plan" and not the other "products" mentioned in the first 5 minutes...
In order to be "FULLY VESTED-SENIOR REMOTE RECRUITING ASSISTANT", I would need to sign up for the "Legal Shield Plan" at $39.85/mo. He only said the words "Legal Shield" one time-but I heard it-but the rest of the time it was always a "paid legal access plan". After all, he said, how can you refer sales-people if you don't have the plan yourself and can attest to how awesome it is???
But wait! I could certainly choose NOT to sign up for the "legal plan" and apply to be just a "Junior RA", but "very, very few people are accepted into those positions. The majority don't make it" (yes, he said that) and once I did that-I could never, ever upgrade to the FULLY VESTED Senior RA recruiter.
What a scam and waste of my time. I did not know that PRE-PAID LEGAL was now LEGAL SHIELD, but now after researching I see that Pre-Paid changed their name due to legal problems of their own.
The worst part is they have my personal info. That makes me mad. This was never an actual job, it's selling a worthless legal plan, but they lied to get my resume-nothing about this "job" requires anyone with a brain, in fact it's the brainless that sign up.

I read this report on the Legal Shield recruiter and theis gentleman's experience. Let me establish that I am unemployed, not signed uo with LegalShield and was approached by a very credible Regional VP over a region of the country for Legal Shield. I have had personal converstions with her and her President. I am in the process of doing my due diligence for the B2B sector in sales for thsi company. I am not opposed to network marketing however, that is not the division or part of the business I am consiering. First, I would appreciate it if the reporter of this article to whom I am writing this, would use some solid references so I can refer to for example: when you cited that: " I did not know that PRE-PAID LEGAL was now LEGAL SHIELD, but now after researching I see that Pre-Paid changed their name due to legal problems of their own." I would like to have a web address that I can read and verify this. What was their legal issue? Were thay a name change or bought out by another company? The answer this recruiter gave me is that they were bought out by a srong comany and there are magazine articles reporting on this company LegalShield favorably.
I have qite a bit more due diligence before making this a straight commission B2B sales career however, from what I've read and seen and the two upper executives to whom I've spoken, it seems to be a credible entity. It's all a matter of preference and I also think there are many MLMer's in the Network marketing portion of this company who are scheming all types of recruiting methods and can give a decent company a bad name. I guess I will find out through more due diligence what my conclusion is from my findings. Thank you.
