I had quite an experience with Firstline Securtiy which I thought was over and done with. You can read about it in the Ripoff Report I filed on them, just do a search. Well now I'm dealing with Security Associates International, Inc. (SAI).

Apparently they were handling the monitoring services for Firstline (does Firstline do ANYTHING themselves other than resell crap???), which I wasn't aware of until I received a bill in the mail from SAI. I had never heard of SAI before until I got the bill. I guess Firstline didn't inform SAI that I had cancelled.

The mag stripe on the back of my credit card wasn't working properly anymore, so I ordered a new card from my bank. This made my old card invalid, and that was the card I had provided for payment. Since I thought everything with Firstline had been cancelled I didn't provide new credit card info.

So I get this bill in the mail from SAI for two months of service, and it states that some of the amount is past due. I called SAI the same day I received the bill and informed them that I had cancelled two days after the security system was installed (which was the first business day after installation), the reasons I had cancelled, etc. I told them that I shouldn't owe them anything.

So the guy I spoke with told me that he would "have to call Firstline and see what was going on." He said he would call me back the following day. Big surprise...he never called back.

So I sent a fax to SAI. The fax included a letter from me explaining the situation, a copy of the bill I had received from them, a copy of my Firstline Notice of Cancellation, receipts and tracking info from where I Express Mailed my cancellation to Firstline, a letter from the Better Business Bureau which showed Firstline admitting that they were not properly licensed in the state of NC and that they had cancelled my account, etc. Big surprise, no response from SAI.

I have now sent them a certified letter which contains all the info I sent them in the fax. If they do not respond to that, I will have proof that they received all this information and I will be contacting the North Carolina Attorney General's Office and the Better Business Bureau just as I did with Firstline.

There is absolutely no reason for SAI to be dragging their feet on this. They need to be canceling the monitoring and setting the account balance to ZERO. It was Firstline's responsibility to cancel the monitoring service. Firstline didn't do this and that's not my fault. I didn't know anything at all about SAI until receiving this bill. I looked over the Firstline contract, and there is no mention anywhere of SAI.
