I was sold a security monitoring unit by FirstLine in May of 2007. The actual security monitoring was supposedly carried out by Security Associates International (SAI). They are the company that I've been paying $44.99 a month for their so called monitoring service.

In January 2008 I requested my alarm system be placed in test mode because I was having my kitchen remodled and the wall where the alarm unit was installed was going to be replaced. Of course, I was told that I would have to continue to pay the monthly service charges.

Beginning the last week of February 2008, I began calling SAI to request them to have someone come and re-install my alarm monitoring unit. To this day (May 29, 2008), I have been unsuccessful in reaching a technician. I have called at all different hours of the day and night but have never reached a technician. The only people who answer the phone simply say they can only transfer me to the technician line.

Like everyone else, I've been told that I must pay the full 3-year contract amount, even though this company doesn't have to fulfill their contract to actually monitor this system. I suppose that if my home is broken into and I'm killed by the intruder, this company still won't be held accountable. Maybe the robber will take the monitor unit - it's been sitting on my desk for the last three months.
