Complaint Review: Security Force

Security Force Fraud, thieves, theft by deception, scammers Raleigh North Carolina

  • Reported By:
Kim Smith — Raleigh North Carolina United States of America
  • Submitted:

  • Updated:

After noticing several non-local missed telephone calls from this company, my mother decided to call the number back. This was a Friday afternoon and the company was Security Force in Raleigh, North Carolina offering their home security services in her subdivision. After lying and telling my mother that SF was part of GE, she said to call her on the following Monday, which is when she will have made up her mind.

My mother is registered with creditkarma.com and received an email from the site concerning a hard credit inquiry. It was from Security Force which illegally ran and accessed her credit report one day after speaking with her over the telephone.  My mother never gave this company her social security number or date of birth and do not understand how it obtained her personal information. Obviously, the company is buying this data online from some third party. However, it is illegal to obtain a person's social security number and use it without their permissible or authorization. This is a federal offense and there was not even a telephone discussion about credit.

My mother called the SF office in Raleigh and told a receptionist why she was calling. She was told that a Mr. Jenkins would call her back, however never did. Instead, the inquiry was mysteriously removed from her Equifax report. However, it was too little, too late. I had already taken a screenshot of the inquiry and legal action will be taken against Security Force.

This is a warning to everyone who receives a telephone call from this company. If you do not already have credit monitoring, get it and protect yourself from identity thieves such as Security Force.

SECURITY FORCE INC, RALEIGH NC

I too was taken advantage of just as this woman ahead of me here in North Carolina by Security Force Inc.  I have blamed Guardian Protection, yet it is Security Force Inc out of Raleigh NC who somehow obtained my personal information, contacted me, did a hard credit check without my information obtaining my social security information. It was Security Force who contacted me.  When calling today to try to get help with getting away from them and who they hire for monitoring (Guardian Protection) they completely ignored this woman above me who had the exact trouble, but whose daughter caught them ahead of time rather than after the fact like me. How did they get my cell phone number, which is private, they said nothing about doing a hard credit check.  I told them on several of the phone calls that I wasn't interested (woman from Angier NC with Security Force) when she called, yet they continued to call me back.

I told Security Force just now that they are the reason I had this alarm hooked up in my home, and I suspect much of the trouble I have had with them to be from them as they are "local" out of Raleigh NC and in the same state. The person above me is correct, what they do is Illegal, they have no right to purchase my phone number then call  me to solicit their services repeatedly, and do a hard credit check without my permission and also let me know they have my daughters information as well and want to know if she wants a system. I did call Guardian Protection within the alloted time frame that the Security Force Installer Mike Harris told me I had to cancel-10 days and would have sent a written cancellation if I thought it would have done any good, however the Monitoring company Guardian Protection told me I did not have 10 days like Mike Harris Said with Security Force Inc according to Guardian Protection who said I had three days. Now obviously Security Force Inc is behind all of this , as they were the ones who contacted me and now they are telling me they will "give me my buyout amount" of 1,300. 75 cents.  So Security Force is the one making the money.

If they call you, Security Force Inc, report them to the FCC Immediately for obtaining your phone number and social security number under false pretenses. I have never had an alarm company call me in my life, which is why I did not commit and told them I was not interested for around three months until they refused to stop cold calling me.  I wish I had been as knowledgeable as the daughter before me on alarm company scammers like these and what is legal and illegal. I know they don't have the right to purchase my phone number.  It's a cell and unlisted and this is the way they must have gotten it, either way, they got it illegally.

STAY AWAY from SECURITY FORCE INC.

REPORT THEM WHEN THEY CALL AND DO NOT COMMIT TO ANYTHING, EVEN WHEN THEY CONTINUE TO CALL.

Hopefully, they will hang themselves. It's about time someone went after them for Money!!!

Illegal access to credit report

I could care less how long this company has been in business.

Employees within the company are illegally accessing credit reports of non-customers and I have referred the matter to a private law firm. This action is a violation of the FCRA, a Federal law and my mother will recoup monetary damanges due to your stupidity and underhandedness.

Other victims now know to take the same action against this company. Meanwhile, I have contacted national media outlets so that your illegal business practices are exposed across the country.

Keep up the good work.

Security Force Inc/Guardian Protection

I had the same thing happen to me and can find no help.  This man cold called me and said he had a GE Security system that had had little exposure that he wanted me to try out for free.

Couple weeks later I get a call from this woman in Angier ( a cold call) and she is persistent even though I continue to tell her that I am not interested and even suggests a system through Security Force Inc out of Raleigh for my Daughter.  I have never told them I have a daughter and don't know how they know where she lives and nor do I know how they obtained my phone number and continued to call me over and over again until I gave in and finally got their system. Their system is monitored by Guardian Protection out of Pennsylvania.  I have written a lengthy report on this site about it and to no avail. I am still being charged for a non-working system and for being robbed of the alarm key fob and my house keys where I had to break into my own home.  The system has not worked "most" of the year so I have been paying for nothing.

Thank God for Vivint Security who is "giving me" their 1,600 system, where I am just paying the monthly monitoring fee, because they know the horrible situation with Security Force Raleigh NC /Guardian Security our of Pennsylvania. They are still charging me around 55 dollars a month for nothing.  Please read my report.  I was glad to see yours.  Be so glad your mother was not conned into allowing Security Force to install a "free alarm" to "try out". How do these people get your personal information this is scary, not to mention an expensive ripoff

Concern

#5UPDATE Employee

Tue, April 26, 2016

In regard to the issue documented for your mother, we at Security Force are deeply concerned about this issue. Security Force Inc. has actively been providing security/protection to homeowners in North Carolina for the past 14 years and if you research us on the internet, you will see we have limited complaints and a stellar rating with the Better Business Bureau. We pride ourselves on our reputation and how we handle ourselves for our clients, we have protected over 50,000 clients in our market area.

To address some of the statements in your complaint, Security Force is part of the GE Home technology group and we provide their product to pretty much our entire client base.

To address the remaining issues in regard to her credit inquiry and find out if this was our office, we would like to gather some information from you via email so we can investigate this. Concerns we have in regard to your claims are, I personally handle our account with Equifax and at no point over the entire time I have worked for the company(13 years) have we removed an inquiry from Equifax for a client so this is perplexing to say the least. Also Security Force Inc does not buy any data from third party sources, we only contact clients who reach out to us via our website, calling into us or connected with us through any special marketing/advertising events we have. We also do not have anyone with the name Jenkins employeed by Security Force Inc.

So if you could, please email me at Lgehring@securityforceinc.com so we can communicate offline and I can gather some information from you so we can further investigate this issue. Again, Security Force Inc, takes this allegatin very seriously and we wish to find out what occurred and correct whatever we can to handle this.
