Security Roofing Systems of Florida  did a $25,000 re-roof job in 2007 on the home that I purchased in 2011. They wrote the original owners of the home a 10 year parts and labor warranty and they carefully added the words Non-Transferable to the warranty contract. This is perhaps the shadiest practice for any roofing company, particularly considering that there is large turnover on homes in South Florida.

I found out that I have a leak in the 6-year-old roof that is rotting out a section of the fascia board right by my front door because the flashing was not installed properly. It is a huge eye sore. My fiance attempted to contact Security Roofing to see what needed to happen in order to get the problem remedied. The owner of Security Roofing, Robin Bidlofsky, told her that they would not do anything with the roof that the warranty was non-transferable and that they were basically not going to discuss anything with her because my fiance's name isn't on the mortgage. My fiance acts as my agent and has never had any trouble scheduling the maintenance of our home. It was only the rudeness and inconsiderate tone of Ms. Bidllofsky that has really pushed us to continually file compalints against this company. Ms. Bidlofsky actually went to the extent to contact the previous owner of the home and tell her more about the situation than she would my fiance.

This was a really bad business practice, considering that Robin Bidlofsky knew that the previous owner had sold the home at this time. She basically violated her own policy of not speaking to anyone outside of the home owner by doing this. She told the previous owner that she would have done something for us, but because my fiance was asking questions about what she needed and how this should be handled, she was not going to do anything to resolve the problem.

My fiance has since called out several roofing companies with no problem and received several estimates with no problem. So it wasn't a matter of whther or not she was the home owner or the home owner's agent, Ms. Bidlofsky obviously knew that the project that they did on this particular property would eventually have a problem within the warranty and she is simply "winning" by having non-transferable written into the contract, purely based on the fact that the home sold during the warranty.

If you are reading this and considering doing business with Security Roofing, be warned that they write Non-Transferable into their warranty contract. You may need to contact an attorney prior to signing any agreements with Security Roofing or any other roofing company that writes Non-Transferable in their contract because it is SHADY!!!! Of all of the roofers that my fiance and I have spoken to they were appalled that this was their practice and vehemently declared: Our warranty is transferable. We stand behind our work. Houses don't move, people do and if there was a problem wiht something we did on the roof we want the opportunity to show you that we're a great company and we stand behind our work.

The accounts stated in the comments by Ms. Rachel Levy are inaccurate. We have never done business with Ms. Rachel Levy and do not have any contracts with her or her fiance.
