I worked this summer at a Kmart store; I had worked there the previous summer and during Christmas. 680 Signal Mountain Road 37405 (423) 875-2511. The owner of the store Tim Millwood is an arrogant a*s.

I am female, 5'4 and 135 lbs therefore, I cannot lift certain objects with the same ease as the other large, male stockroom employees. I was working in the electronics department when a customer wished to purchase a 13" TV/VCR combo. I paged for a stockman to assist me in getting the TV out of the stockroom.

I waited for 10 minutes while the customer grew restless. Finally, I picked up the TV and brought it out to the customer apologizing for the wait. After the customer left, I started to pick stray items in my area. I bent down to pick up a piece of paper on the floor.

I felt a brilliant flash of pain shooting through my body. I was in tears and I could not feel my left leg. I was experiencing a herniated disc pressing on a nerve. I literally crawled to the break room and told another employee I needed help. He rushed to get our manager and Tim.

They came back and asked me what they could do for me. I asked for some ibuprofen and to call my parents to come pick me up because I was in no condition to drive. Another employee fetched me a wheelchair because I still could not feel my leg.

No one helped me get to the phone. I had to struggle to wheel myself to the office, unlock the door and then struggle to get back out of the office (that door is sooo not handicap accessible). No report of the incident was filed that day. No one in Human Resources was notified until I threatened to hire a lawyer.

Then I had to deal with Sedgwick CMS. The claims representative yelled at me over the phone as if I were a child. She was extremely rude to me and any of my family members who answered the phone. I was not approved for treatment until over a month had passed since the injury.

Even after receiving treatment, I have received bills for the treatment that were supposed to be covered by worker's compensation. Now I am fighting them to pay them before a collections agent comes to my house! I am so upset and frustrated!
