Complaint Review: Sedona Pines Resort

I am also an owner at Sedona Pines Resort, and have been since 2000, I feel we were presented with all the facts as far as I can tell and so far have been quite pleased.

We own 2 weeks (a 2-bedroom unit) there and I have never really had a problem getting in, although they do prefer that you do not use it the first couple of years so that they have them available to show. We have stayed there several times with no problem, I dont feel the units are trailers as posted by one individual, they are however modular units, which are built on a trailer frame rail system. This does reduce the cost of construction and fits the zoning requirements for that particular site.

My wife and I use the Sedona Resort for week end getaways with our grand children during the summer and when we have been there have talked to several others that are either owners or RCI members visiting, so far we have heard very little in the line of complaints and those were mainly that the units were somewhat smaller than they were used to.

The cost of our stay there has been no points only a small nightly fee, this is common on short notice stays, and if we booked in advance we could use points.

The properties are not being bought back at this time due to the final construction not being done, once that is done you should be able to sell it back, however it doesnt preclude you from trying to sell it independently or to rent it. They mention during the presentation that they have first right of refusal, that doesnt mean they will buy it back only that if you get an offer for a sale that they have the option to meet that offer or refuse it before the sale is concluded (simple explanation).

Last year we used our points from the Sedona Pines resort and exchanged them for a week on Kauai, HI, it cost me 69,000 points (which I was aware of before hand) and $69.00 cash for the week. I also used some additional points for car rental. The way I see it I saved over $3000.00 with the RCI system, and that is actually, what you are buying into when you come right down to it.

One additional note on availability Sedona is a RED ZONE, it is usually busy year round and that does make it somewhat more difficult to find a place but that applies anywhere in the Sedona area. If you use common sense and plan, accordingly you should not have to much of a problem.
