We purchased a new top-of-the-line spa from Sedona Spas (about $7000) in June of 2002. They came out to inspect the location and gave us instructions that had to be done before the spa was installed. We followed their instructions verbatim and even used their recommended vendors.

The day the spa was installed it would not work. They came out several times trying to fix it but it never worked properly. When the outside temperature reached about 95 degrees the spa would not turn on. They tried adding vents to the side and replaced the control circuit but never got it working.

After the fifth attempt we were told that a rodent had chewed through the control cable. They replaced the cable and gave us a $200 bill for the repair. The next day it did not work. It turns out that when they installed the spa they only poured a concrete footing around the edge, rather than pouring a full slab. This footing did not fully extend to the edges of the spa. Even though I was told they would get the measurements of the spa and match the slab to those measurements. We paid an additional $900 to have their contractor pull the spa from the frame (we could not move the whole frame due to the probability of breaking the flagstone on the frame)and pour cement to fill the whole in the footing they had poured. When their contractor pulled the spa, they found that the spa failed again because when they replaced the control panel they had set the lip of the spa on the cable cutting the cable to the control unit. After calling Sedona Spas, they still refused to honor their warranty even after finding out that it was their mistake that caused it to fail.

We filed a suit against them and are waiting for a trial date. After they were served the General Manager called saying that he did not know there was a problem and he would get it fixed right away. That was almost 2 months ago and they have still made no attempt to make repairs. In fact he has tried to claim that they are not responible for the improper installation since they use contractors and do not perform the work on their own. My response to that statement is that they got the money, if they have a problem with their contractors, that is between them and their contrators.

At this point I have no interest in getting this spa fixed, as I don't trust them to honor their warranty for any future issues. I simply am suing to get my money back and this expensive peice of junk out of my yard. If you are considering buying a spa from this company I would highly recommend finding another vendor.

Sedona Spas has now made good on their promise to repair this spa. They have filled the bottom with concrete to keep rodents from digging in from underneath and have made all repairs to my satisfaction and extended the warranty for 6 months to ensure there are no further heat related issues.

Mr. Don did not follow the instructions given to him.

He was instructed to pour a cement slab for the spa to sit on. He actually signed the sheet of paper giving him this instruction. He did not do this, and all of his problems come from not preparing his site properly. He hired someone else to do this for him, not Sedona Spas. He did not pay Sedona Spas for any site preparation, and Sedona spas does not contract site preparation in any instance. Mr Doerr was invoiced for a topside control that a rodent chewed up. This is not covered under warranty. Mr. Don never paid for the new part. Mr. Doerr then hired another contractor, not Sedona Spas, to try and correct the site problem. To this date the site is still wrong, and rodents are tunneling up under the spa, with piles of dirt against all of the motors and electronic controls, as well as chewing all the cords. Mr. Don is trying to blame Sedona Spas for his own negligence. We have offered to fix all the equipment which has been ruined by rodents, and make the spa mechanically sound again, none of which is really a warranty issue, ONCE MR DOERR FIXES HIS SITE. It is very simple, Mr Doerr needs a solid, level concrete slab for the spa to sit on and he refuses to do so, or make the contractor he hired, who did the work responsible. Instead, he's tring to blame Sedona Spas.

Sincerely,

General Manager
