I purchased a Sleep Number Bed from this company, paid 100.00 to have it delivered and set up. There were problems right from the start....the chamber on the right side kept on deflating, with the result that by morning, my wife would have a back ache. Within the free trial period, I called the company, they sent me replacement parts many times, the problem was never fixed....finally, I got fed up and asked them to take it back..they agreed, I had to spend 200.00 to ship the bed back to their headquarters in Minnesota. Meanwhile, they removed the charges but hit me with a RESTOCKING CHARGE of 500.00. Since this was financed with G.E. Capital (another un-responsive company) the finance arm of Select Comfort, they kept after me to pay them the 500.00. Since I refused, they added on additional finance charges and late fees..and reported my account as being delinquent to all the three CREDIT AGENCIES. At this time, I had enough.... I FILED A CASE AGAINST GE CAPITAL AND SELECT COMFORT IN THE SMALL CLAIMS COURT.....the poor idot of a store manager who represented Select Comfort had no defense, he was literally crying in front of the judge claiming that he had never been to court before...I presented my case in a logical, precise manner and advised the judge that Select Comfort sold me a defective product and how can there be restocking charges for such an item. He agreed and ruled in my favour. Even though the charges were removed, Select Comfot refused to inform the three credit agencies to remove the negative information. Finally, i sent a copy of the court order to them and once again, threatned to sue Select Comfort if they did not advise the three agencies to remove the negative information..they finally did. My advise to anyone dealing with this company is to understand that their warranty is useless, they will not take back the bed willingly, you will have to spend over 200.00 to ship it back, they may hit you with a huge restocking fee......AND DONT LET THEM TAKE YOUR OLD MATTRESSES....YOU MAY NEED IT...... Why would you threaten to sue Select Comfort for reporting you to the credit bureaus when you are financed through GE? GE reported you to the credit
bureaus not SC. Your story has more holes than a slice of swiss cheese, as there is NEVER a restocking fee on beds. EVER. Either you return the bed in the alotted 30 night in home trial or it is yours thereafter. If you read your receipt, which you obviously haven't, it clearly states the 30 night in home trial policy which you
signed for at the time of purchase.

Do not let other tell you how a mattress feels

Do not let other tell you how a mattress feels or provide their opinion. No one can tell you how you feel on a mattress. Take the time to educate yourself and make an informed decision. The only mattress that will work for you is the one that feels the best to you. A mattress is a very selective and your sleep is very important.

This bed is nothing more no less than a camping mattress that looks nice. It is a not worth anything near what you guys charge people for. My husband and I bought a wonderful mattress for a third and it is a standard well built mattress and we sleep great! The claim that it is some kind of "cure all" is a piece of crap. Why should a person have to pay you guys to take it back? Good lord, chop it to pieces and throw it to the curb then and save the poor customer the fee! That is robbery in my opinion. Come on people, just stick to a standard mattress, your back and bank account will be greatful. It has worked for a hundred years and will continue to! I feel for the people taken into with this kind of thing, just cause it looks pretty on the top doesn't mean it is worth it underneath.

If you send a bed back there is no restocking fee.

If you send a bed back there is no restocking fee.
You may have paid $150 for a delivery and that was a service rendered.
For $200 the home delivery will take it apart and remove it from your house and incur the cost of sending it back.
The total cost to send the bed back is $350.
$150 (delivery fee) + $200 (pack it back up and send it back) = $350.
If you incurred additional expenses it must have had to do with financing and you ignoring the monthly statement. Even if you are returning the bed customers must still meet their monthly obligation to GE credit until Select Comfort notifies GE to adjust your account. If you ignore paying the monthly bill 2 months in a row GE will start charging interest. Their interest rate when you default is around 26%.
Select Comfort loses money when they buy a bed back.
Anything over the $350 total charge for returning a bed must be related to GE.
